Sweet Stampin' - No Designer Papers

Hey there, my lovely blogging pals. It's time for another Sweet Stampin' Challenge, so here's my DT post.

It's coming to the end of the Winter Break for my kiddies. I've been doing lots of lovely 'staycation' things with them. We've climbed lighthouses, seen Minions in mischief, had a Mat Hatter's Tea Party, baked muffins and had lots of cuddles with a gorgeous newborn, just to mention a few of our adventures. What I've not had time for in this mix has been crafting! So it was a bit of a rude awakening when I woke up this morning (Saturday morning for me) and realised I had yet to make my DT card for Sweet Stampin'! This week just rushed to a close so quickly. But then I remembered the recent birthday card I made for my hubby, which I was yet to blog. So thankfully, there was no need for tantrums and templates! Because the card I made my lovely hubby, fits our 'No Designer Papers' challenge theme perfectly, phew! So... here's one I prepared earlier.

Those of you who know my hubby, you will know we have more guitars than children in this house and I play second fiddle to his beautiful blonde. (A rather gorgeous 'blonde wood' Tele' I bought him a couple of years ago). So when I saw this stamp set in the 'Creative Stamping' craft magazine a while back, I knew exactly who I'd be using this for. The central stamp (for those of you who are seeing a horse head! LOL) is actually a bare chested guitar player with wings. Squint slightly, you'll see it. It's a perfect image for my hubby and I loved it the moment I saw it. Much like him really!

I used elements from two different stamp sets to create the background for this card, both from Creative Stamping magazines. One is called 'For Him' and had the Flying V, Playstation controllers, and central guitarist image along with lots of other cool male themed images. The second set I used was the 'Fabulous 50s' and had the Dobro'esque' guitar and starbursts on it along with lots of other iconic 50's themed stamps. I've also used some solid and hollow stars, from another Practical Publishing magazine cover gift. I used a mix of Memento inks to create the background including Olive Grove, Rich Cocoa, Desert Sand and New Sprout. The central image was inked in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I edged the papers with Olive Green Memento Ink and the star shapes were cut with an X-Cut Nesting Stars die set. The scalloped edge was from a Grand Nestabilities Scalloped Square set.

Come on over to the Sweet Stampin' Challenge blog and join us for our 'No Designer Papers' challenge. We'd love to see what you create for this challenge. I'll be back soon with another crafty adventure, but I think I'll get my kiddos back to school first. Big hugs, Wends x

This is a fabulous card Wends! Perfect for the theme ...and perfect for your husband!
Glad you have had such a good time with your children, much more important to spend quality time with them than to craft...believe me they grow up too quickly and you'll have plenty of time to craft then...until the grandkids arrive that is :)!
