Southern Girls ~ For The Kids

Hey there my lovely blogging buddies. I have two kiddos home poorly today, for the second time this week. Winter bugs have hit our shores here in New Zealand! Poor Georgie had no voice at all on Tuesday! So I'm a bit late posting my DT creation for Southern Girls this morning, but as they say, better late than never!

It's Team Lou's turn to post this week and we have a super fun challenge theme and two utterly fabulous sponsors. Our theme is 'The Kids Are Alright', which means, we want you to create something for a child. We love all your gorgeous papercrafts, be it a scrapbook layout, card, mixed media, as long as it's a papercraft, we'd love to see it.

Our two amazing sponsors are Lacy Sunshine Stamps and Julia Spiri. What a treat for our lucky winners. Two truly fabulous stamp designers.

I had the great pleasure of working with a gorgeous image from Lacy Sunshine Stamps. Heather draws such enchanting characters and this lil' cutie 'Rory ~ Lil Red & Wolfie' really stole my heart. It possibly has something to do with having a 'wolf' crazy daughter, but who could resist the sweet lil' wolfie in this image?! Plus I have a soft spot for Little Red Riding Hood, I've always LOVED that cape!

I used my Promarkers to colour this sweet image and then added a touch of Wink of Stella to her blue shirt (because what little girl doesn't love a sparkly shirt?). I also added a touch of Wink of Stella to her cape buckle so it looks golden and there's a teeny touch on her hair baubles where the light would fall, but you can't see this in the pics. Wink of Stella is gorgeous in reality, but doesn't photograph well unless you catch it in exactly the right light! Trust me I tried!!

I used a paper from Pretty Grafik Designs which is part of a set called 'Little Red'. I wanted to use the forest paper as well, but as I was creating the card, I found a strip of gingham on my table and well, you know how much I LOVE red gingham so that worked it's way into the design and my idea for creating a forest background with grass trim took a backseat. I kinda like how it turned out though!

I also love that when I was sharing a cider with my brother the other night, I saw the paw print on the bottle top and had an 'aha' moment.  I think it looks fab as the key embellishment on this card. I finished the card with some enamel dots and red bakers twine and a fab sentiment cut using a La La Land Stitched Tabs die set. The sentiment itself comes from a Little Darling's sentiment set called Friendship. It's on special right now too! These sentiments are great, they're 'little' so fit so nicely into the La La Land stitched tabs dies.

Well that's it for today, I have to get these poorly poppets some lunch. Check out what my talented teamies got up to for this challenge, they have created some fabulous cards and layouts. Come and join us with your own kids creations. We'd love to see what you do with this theme. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure. Have a fabulous week. Hugs, Wends x

P.S. I took another quick pic this morning, as the main one above was a bit blurry taken last night indoors. Excuse the wobbly angle, I was trying to catch the light, but this is a bit clearer than the other pic.

Sorry to hear the kids are poorly Wends, hope they'll soon be feeling better.
Fabulous card, beautiful image and colouring, love the design and papers, that red gingham paper is the perfect choice, ties in so well with the cloth on the basket. The blue/red/white combo is so bright and cheerful and the bottlecap with the paw print an inspired finishing touch!

Sweet Wends, I hope your kiddos are on the mend and feeling sparklier than ever. Your card is beautiful! Any kiddo or adult would treasure this work of (he)art. The image is darling and I absolutely love the color palette. The red gingham atop the blue sky is stunning and I do love the use of the paw print bottle cap! Inspiration always abounds, right? :o) Gorgeous work once again, my friend. You are so talented and I'm grateful for the inspiration you provide. Have a lovely night. :o)

Hugs and blessings,
Karen
What a sweetie Wends - love that rustic touch with the gingham! We too have poorly people in our house with colds (imported by DGS from Kindy) and sniffs etc. As grandparents we are not used to them!
Blessings
