Whimsy Stamps ~ Sweet Snowman Dreams

Hey my lovely crafty pals. Do you have crafty aspirations? I have had some and I have to be honest that I've reached a few in the last year or two. I made the Whimsy Stamps Design Team and thought all my Christmases had come at once, because I've been a huge Whimsy fan for absolutely years! Then I was asked to lead the Digital Design Team and well, that is just something I never saw coming but has been a source of such joy ever since! Now to top it all off, thanks to my lovely boss at Whimsy Stamps, Denise, another lil' fairytale dream has also come true! I've been published!!

I can't claim any great victory for this, as it was a direct result of my Design Team role for Whimsy Stamps, rather than any great crafty prowess, but oh my goodness, if you could see how squealy excited I am!! I've been dancing a lil' jig ever since the digital edition came out! I'm about to flake out from exhaustion! LOL. Now you want to see right?! So I'll stop gushing and show you...

Here's my wee make laying flat for posting. You can see the tab on the side. This tucks into the slit just in from the right side of the card. The layer underneath also has a tab that slots into a slit just in from the left of the card, which results in a bendy front card that stands up once popped up like this.

Here it is standing up once the tabs are in place. I love this pretty sparkly paper I used for this creation. There are a few elements that are no longer in stock in the store, the sentiment and the wee trees are older dies from Whimsy Stamps, but everything else is currently in store.

Here you can see how the tab slots in from the side, creating the bendy front panel. I tucked the side panels in behind the base designer paper for a tidy finish. The little strip of glitter paper I added to the base of the scene on the front is actually the offcut from the panel behind. This was achieved by the clever Whimsy Stamps Kinetic Curved Hills Border Die I used, which cuts a lovely stitched border on both sides of the rolling hills.

The image and background scene was coloured using Copic Pens. It was such a quick and easy scene to colour as there's so much white. Just a few shadows and accents to bring it all to life. That sweet snowman was also a joy to colour. You can find this lovely Winter Wonderland Snowmen Set from Krista Heij-Barber in store as part of Whimsy's December Release.

I decorated the back of the card with the same beautiful snowflake paper and added a pretty diecut message box and a sentiment from the set. All the edges have been finished so the raw edges are hidden, which I wanted to look lovely front and back in case they took shots of both for the magazine.

My lovely fellow Whimsy Stamps Digital Design Diva Hester Ameling created this awesome kinetic design for the magazine commission. Super cute when you see him whizzing along the ice! You can check out her full design details on her blog.

The Divas and I have been taking a little break from regular posting of our Whimsy creations this month, but we have still been creating, so watch this space, as I will share some more soon. I hope all your Christmas plans are going well if you celebrate and if you don't, I wish you a happy holiday season for when you do celebrate. Hugs and happy crafting xoxo
