Whimsy Stamps ~ Octoberfest Whimsy Style!

Hey crafty pals, it's October, which in the world of Whimsy means one thing, we're getting our freak on all month long! It's Halloween month ya'll and if you know our Designer Deb Davis at Whimsy, you know Halloween is her favourite holiday! So we have oodles of amazing Halloween and spooky fun dies, stamps, and companion sets. It's fabulous! But if you know me well, you'll know I don't do the 'spooky' Halloween stuff, I'm a proper wuss, I can't do horror or gore, I love a good thriller, but don't like super scary or supernatural stuff. Freaks me out! So you'll find me in the 'G' rated kiddies corner, with the 'friendly' witch face, LOL. I of course gravitate to the super cute Halloween characters and Whimsy has a fantastic mix of both, if you like the full on spookfest and gore, they've got you covered, but if like me, you'd rather have the 'G' rated version, then Whimsy has got the sweetest and cutest Halloween images for us and I had such fun colouring up this cutie for my first share of the brand new October Release at Whimsy.

We have two fabulous collections joining Whimsy this month and this cutie is from our brand new line from Some Odd Girl! I've always loved Kristy Dalman's images and have a quite a number in my personal collection already. I find her critters especially endearing. But I have to share with you, that when I was lining up the new release for colouring, it was actually my little guy Zac, who utterly and completely fell for this image! He was like "Mum, it's way cool, can I choose the colours, he HAS to have a midnight blue hat with yellow stars, he HAS to!" So, what's a mama to do right?! I let him choose all the colours and I coloured this cute owl up, to his exact specifications. Zac even pulled out all the copic pens he wanted me to use! Nervous mama moment watching to make sure he didn't tip my Copic travel bag too far open so they all spilled out! Hehe. Goes without saying, this card will be 'his'.

I thought this paper was such a fun choice for this cute image, all magical and zingy around him. It's from the Comics paper pad by Whimsy Stamps. Such a cool pad of papers, I know I'm going to have fun using. It just arrived the other day, post is so slow now with the Covid impact, so I've been hanging out for some lovely new stash! It's seriously like Christmas when the parcel arrives! So it was lovely to use this new stash on this creation.

The clear stamp set I used for the companion elements, also arrived with the papers and I'm so glad it did with Halloween almost upon us! This set by Krista Heij-Barber called Spooks & Spells is super cute and so fun. The little potion bottles and sentiment were so perfect for this creation. I've used lots of sparkly accents on this card, but of course, they're camera shy, so it's hard to capture. The bubbles above are really sparkly in reality.

I used a gold ink to add the little stars and swirls around the owl for a magical effect and I used a gelly roll pen in a platinum sparkle to add the stripes on the sentiment. It doesn't show in the main pics, but I  managed to capture it above by angling it just right in the light.

Well that's it from me lovelies. I've had a big week helping my mama move and we're now the other side of 'phase one', which is such a good feeling, but I'm exhausted, so looking forward to a nice quiet weekend! Do stop by the store and check out the October Release from Whimsy, it's amazing! As usual, I basically want one of everything! LOL. Hugs and happy crafting friends and I'll be back with another crafty adventure very soon xoxo
