May the 4th be with you...

Hehe, love it when 'Star Wars' day rolls around. My kiddos love it too! It's a family tradition to watch at least one of the Star Wars movies on May 4th. They have cousins who were born this day, twins! A girl and a boy, how Star Wars is that?!! So I have a fun post to share with you today, of their birthday cards. They're only turning 5 today, so their mama is keeping the Star Wars theme for a party in later years. But it's still fun to celebrate them this way, so I did manage to sneak in a C3PO torch as one of the little man's pressies. Hopefully he'll enjoy that. I had great fun making their cards this year, following a fabulous 'box card' tutorial from one of my lovely blog buddies Janine Quinn. It's well worth a visit to her site for this fab tutorial, you can check it out here.

Here are the twin's box cards together

I've used two fantastic paper sets to create these box cards from the Funky Hand downloads. The boys box card was made using the fabulous Boys Will Be Boys paper set. It will work best, if I show you one creation at a time, as there's quite a lot to see with these box cards. So I'll start with the boys card. You can find the girls creation in a separate post below.

I had planned to hand colour an image for both projects, but was running short of time which isn't uncommon with me! So I opted to use some fabulous Kaisercraft diecuts for this card. They were such a great match colour and theme wise, I couldn't quite believe my luck! They've been knocking around my stash since we first got home when I discovered a wonderful Kiwi craft store called Artfull Crafts in the South Island and bought a few paper kits on special, which these wonderful diecuts came with. So it was all rather a happy coincidence.

The Kaisercraft 'Technologic' paper set came with some really sweet 'rub-ons', so I embellished the sides of the box flaps with these. There was even a sentiment diecut which said 'boys will be boys' on it, so that went up the front. The number 5 was part of the 'rub-ons', so I applied that to white card and added it to the back of the box. I just love how well all these elements work together! I love the sentiment paper from Funky Hand, so chose to put that front and centre on the card.

There are so many great papers in this set. It's sadly obscured a bit with all the embellishments in place, but the robot paper at the back is fabulous, as is the multiple arrows paper which is under the front sentiment paper flap. Have a closer look at these here. Seriously good value in this kit! Here's a close up of the front under the flap and one of the sides. The other side is a mirror image of this. I had printed only one page of the blue and green and being a slave to symmetry, I couldn't bring myself to put one colour each side, so I cut them in half and painstakingly matched up the chevrons, stuck them together and mirrored each side. Boy oh boy, do I made work for myself! LOL. I wonder how many of you out there have similar OC impulses.

I used a really fun High Hopes rubber stamp sentiment on the back, which worked well with my robot theme which you can find here. The barcode is from the Kaisercraft rub-ons again. One of the coolest things about these fabulous box cards, is that they fold flat, to fit in a C5 envelope, which is the size of an A5 page. Provided of course, you don't let your embellishments push too far out to the sides. Otherwise, you'll need a wider envelope, or to wrap them in tissue to give, as I did.

Thanks for popping into my little corner of blogworld today. I will post the girl's box card next, so you can see the full details of that too. Hope you enjoyed your visit and have gained a little inspiration. Do check out Funky Hand for their amazing paper sets. See you all again soon. Hugs, Wends x
