Fab 'n' Funky - Halloween
I'm sneaking in for an extra post today. We are down a couple of teamies for various reasons this challenge, so the whole team is rallying to help out. I must confess, no great trial there, as the images we were given to work with are so dang cute! This week we're being sponsored by the wonderful Paper Shelter and they've given us a couple of über cute images to have a play with. I've chosen Halloween Spirit for my card.
Murphy's law, whenever you try to do anything in a hurry, something goes wrong! I tried to print my image out, and I'd run out of photo ink in my printer, so it wouldn't print in black! It came out a greyed out shadow of it's former self!! Evening, no shops open to replace ink (which in my case wouldn't help anyway, as I have to import the ink from England! Long, expensive story for another time!) So there was nothing to do, but pull up my big girl pants and have a go at my very first EVER 'no lines' colouring. Eeeep! Still trembling in my boots and it has nothing to do with the Halloween theme!
I had some cute Halloween stash in my kit, a sparkly black foam spider and a sparkly black foam bat, so those came in handy for this make. I love being able to use older stash that I've had for yonks! The bat I layered over some clouds and a glitter edged full moon. The spider I suspended from some Washi Tape bunting using black cotton, it's loose, so it dangles when you move the card. My kiddos loved that bit of the card!
I also had some black feathers knocking around in my stash, no idea where they came from but thought them perfect for a Halloween card. I won some lovely goodies from Iva Nova Chest a while back and these pumpkin coloured roses were in that win. So I was chuffed to have just the right colour scheme going to include those. The funky orange ric rac ribbon was also from that same win. Which I really loved the look of layered over the black dotty washi tape.
The purple image mat and sentiment circle were in my stash pre-cut for yonks, waiting for the right make. I cut them from the inside of a bank envelope, they're often lined with a pattern or colour and I love to recycle, so cut some and put them into the 'one day' basket. So I'm giving myself a little pat on the back at this stage, because I've used so much older stash on this make and some 'little used' stash too like my washi tapes. I love it when that happens, very satisfying. I even managed to sneak in some purple organza fabric which I bought over 10 years ago from Lakeland in London. Darnell would be so proud!
That's all folks, (as if I haven't already said enough! LOL) Thanks for popping into my wee corner of the blogosphere and I look forward to catching up with all my blog pals makes later today. Do pop on over the the Fab 'n' Funky Challenge blog to check out what my teamies have done with their Halloween makes and leave them some love. My kiddos are off on two weeks Spring break, so I need to get to entertaining the troops. Here's a final look at the full card taken in a different light. Hard to get a good pic of the 'no lines' colouring. See you again soon. Hugs, Wends x
