Fab 'n' Funky ~ White on White
A warm hello to all my lovely blog buddies out there. It's been all quiet on my blog this last week, I've had lots going on with the kiddos, but amazingly I have found some time to craft. My poor family I've taken over the kitchen table every day this past week, trying to get a few Christmas cards together. So it's like the London Bus Service on my blog this week, nothing for ages and then three posts come along at once! I've several makes to share this week, so I'll try getting them all prepped and loaded to go. This post is an 'extra' one for me as I don't normally join in the team 'Fab' challenges. But I just so loved the theme that our lovely Jan had chosen. I've been wanting to have a go at 'White on White' for ages. So here is my little contribution to the Fab 'n' Funky challenge this week.
I started off with the intention of making a shaker card, but realised last minute I didn't have the right size acetate to fit the aperture I'd cut, so opted to make the design, just a simple aperture card and sat the sentiment in the aperture. I love this sentiment stamp. It's from Stampendous and it's just so pretty. So I thought it would suit this make. The lovely sparkly snowflakes were a gift from my baby sister our last Christmas in the UK. I think they're perfect for this card. They're so pretty. I think she bought them from Michaels in the US.
This challenge is being sponsored by Lacy Sunshine Stamps and I knew exactly which stamp I wanted to use for this challenge. I utterly fell in love with this stamp when I saw one of my teamies a while back colour this gorgeous image up. So I jumped at the chance to work with this delish enchantress. The stamp is called 'Snow Bunny Ethereal Enchantress'. I used my Promarkers to colour up this beauty, but kept the ink very light, as I wanted to keep the stamp very 'white' as well. I just went for a bit of blue for her hair and eyes, which I thought suited the crystalline scene. I've used Glitter Magic on the snowflakes and icicle wings. On her hood, dress trim and boots, I used Cosmic Shimmer Glitter Jewels - Diamond Sprinkles. I really love using this on 'furry white' areas. I've tried flower soft and flock, but they're too thick and don't allow the image details to show through. The Cosmic Shimmer gives the fluffy look, without masking the inky details. So it's my new favourite for white fur!
I used an embossed paper from Doodlebug Design's Divine Impressions range - #1439 - to create my textured white background. I've so many embossing folders, I could have embossed the panel myself, but I think this paper is perfect for this make. Even though it's actually a floral embossing, I thought the swirly leaves worked quite well to mimic snowfall. I added some cotton lace (upside down!) and some pom pom trim, to give this wee lady somewhere to sit and that's about it. I layered the textured paper up on fun foam, to create a bit of depth to the aperture. I popped the image up on foam tape too. It's pretty CAS, but I love this card. I'm very happy with the finish.
I hope you'll come and play along with us this challenge. Jan has put such a fun one together for us all and I'm so looking forward to seeing what you come up with! Do stop by the challenge to see what my other teamies have been up to, there's some really gorgeous inspiration waiting there for you. I'll be back again really soon with my next crafty adventure. Big hugs to you all. Have an awesome day, Wends x
