Southern Girls ~ Buttons or Brads

Hello again! I know, two posts in two days, unheard of!! I'm back again today to share my DT creation for Southern Girls and man I had some fun on this one! I have lassoed the sun and painted it onto this very sunshine yellow card. I have no idea what possessed me to go all out monochrome yellow! The whim just took me and I have to say I love the result.

The DT are working with Ppinky Dolls images for this challenge, so this wee sweetie is called Little Star and you can find her in the Ppinky Dolls Etsy Store. Isn't she a cutie with her wee bunny?! I have used some Wink of Stella on the clouds and stars and her little heart pockets too.

I added those wee heart pockets from the waste that was cut from the lovely Creative Expressions ~ Sue Wilson heart trim frame. They were the perfect size to add as pockets to her wee outfit. It took me right back to my childhood when I had a wee dress with heart shaped pockets. I loved that dress!

I used a cute die which is part of a set of three Quickutz 'Candy Hearts' to create this cute 'I heart You' sentiment. I added white card behind to make the lettering stand out. I handstitched this card (Kat it's all your fault!) it took me ages, but I'm obsessed with the lovely Kat's gorgeous stitching on her cards, and the whim just took me to try a cross stitch border on this card. If you click the second link on Kat's name, it even includes a wee tutorial on how she does her gorgeous stitching! I love how this card turned out, but I definitely need a 'whiter' thread, so that it shows up better. I think my cotton is too thin and not bright white enough. I added some more little hearts from the circle frames waste, just to finish that top corner.

Our theme for this challenge is 'Buttons or Brads' and I didn't have yellow heart brads, which would have worked for the top right corner, so I added a button and bow to finish the card. Voila! I hope you'll come join in the fun with us at Southern Girls this challenge and so look forward to what you come up with for our 'Retro Challenge' using 'Buttons or Brads'. Ppinky Dolls is one of two really awesome sponsors for this fortnights challenge, so come check it out! See you again soon. Hugs, Wends xoxo

Wends, my dear friend, this card is as sweet as you.... and just like you, it fills my heart with happiness. :) The image is darling and I love that you used my favorite heart circle die! She is gorgeous surrounded in sweet love. :) The sunshiny paper is so pretty and I adore the heart and lovey-dovey elements you sprinkled throughout your design. Beautifully done, sweet Wends! Technology was not my friend this week, but I am back up and running and was so happy to see this masterpiece awaiting me. Thank you for sprinkling my night with joy. :)

Hugs and blessings,
Karen
