Fab 'n' Funky ~ Song, Film or Book

Hey there my lovely crafty pals. I'm not sure this has ever happened in the history of my blogging, but I have two posts today! I know right?! Unheard of!! The first of my posts today, is for our new challenge at Fab 'n' Funky. Our lovely Ginny is hosting the challenge and has a fun theme for you this week, which is to create a card inspired by a Film, Song or Book.

We are sponsored by the fabulous Dr Digi's House of Stamps this challenge. They have such a fun set of sassy, tongue in cheek and cool stamps. I chose to work with a lovely image called Tin Man, which is of course a very big hat tip to the film the Wizard of Oz. But I was actually inspired to use this stamp by a song, perhaps some of you know it? Tin Man by America

I love the phrase in the America song that says "Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man, that he didn't, didn't already have..." so I computer generated this as a sentiment and printed it in green to tone with the beautiful paper. I finished the sentiment banner with a little green enamel heart, which I thought was fitting for this creation and theme.

I used my new copics to colour this gorgeous Tin Man, as I had a good set of the cool greys. I used warm greys to colour the handle of axe. It took me ages to colour, but I'm really happy with the result (for a copic novice!) I chose a gorgeous digital paper by Whimsy Stamps designer Tracy Wray called Summer Meadows to create the card base. I just loved the carefree Summer scene it created with the Tin Man merged into it. This is clearly the other side of his journey, he just looks happy and relaxed doesn't he? Not a care in the world!

This last shot is taken if full sun, because I love the soft wash of colours in the beautiful digital paper which you see really well in this shot. I distressed the edges of the paper and of the sentiment banner which was cut with an MFT banner die. A very simple, but I think rather lovely card. I plan to give it to my big nephew for his birthday in a few weeks to encourage him to always remember that all he needs in this world comes from within.

I hope you'll come and join us for some fun this week with our 'Film, Song or Book' challenge. We'd love to see what inspires you to create. It's always fun to know what others enjoy watching and listening to. I'll be back again, in about 2 mins with my next post. So be sure to catch that. Big hugs to you all and happy crafting, Wends xoxo
