Whimsy Wednesday ~ Sweet Carolers Three
Hey there lovelies. Can you believe it's almost Christmas?! Time keeps racing by so fast, I just need a little more time to finish my Christmas cards, hehe. I got a little caught up colouring these utter cuties! This adorable image is penned by our awesomely talented Whimsy artist Crissy Armstrong and I gotta tell ya, I can't get enough of these sweeties! But as a lot of my Whimsy DT sistahs have already coloured up these gorgeous penguins, I wanted to put a different spin on the palette. So I've gone for a mix of warm sepia tones.
I coloured up these cuties with my copics pens and since I have a good selection of the E colours, I used several tone families within that range. I managed to pull together a few different shades. I decided to add the texture to the 'fluffy' bits by dotting on colour with my copics, rather than adding glitter or powder soft as I often do. I'm so pleased with the result too.
The other thing I did which is a 'bit different', but actually 'so me' was to use something I recycled! I love to recycle and I will use recyclables in my crafting whenever I can. This time, it's the pretty gold embossed wrap that was on the front of the 'Christmas coffee' my brother and his wife gave us for Christmas. It was just so lovely I couldn't bring myself to throw it in the recycling! That strip of gold embossed card is the reason this card idea came about! I saw that and it sparked the idea for the sepia toned colouring. Don't you just love when stuff like that happens?! Okay, I'm rambling and it's nearly Christmas, so who has time to read this! I'll let you head over to the Whimsy Store and get your fill of last minute crafting supplies. I really do love digital downloads for this! The delish Autumn Whimsy digital paper I used to create this card is by our talented Tracy Wray and is called Fall Harvest 2. Those cute penguin carolers you can find here. Enjoy your final days of Christmas crafting! I'm sure making the most of mine! Hugs to you all and I'll be back again soon, but maybe not until after I've had my fill of Christmas pud, hehe, xoxo
