Whimsy Wednesday ~ Key To My Heart

Hey there lovelies, I hope your week is going well. I'm here today to share with you a fun shaker card I created to celebrate that wonderful day of 'love' that my hubby likes to dis' so much! Seriously, he's so NOT into Valentine's Day, he actually wrote me a song about it! Hehe, I'd be mad if it wasn't actually kinda sweet! But I'm a romantic at heart, and whether he wants to celebrate that special day, when everyone else in the world is focusing on love (that can't be a bad thing right?!) or not, I'm always going to do my thing. Which of course is to create the sweetest soppiest card I can, right?!

This year, I had a little help from a lovely older set of Whimsy Stamps sentiments called 'Key To My Heart'. I think it's perfect for a mushie heartfelt Valentine card. I have the matching dies from that same release, so I diecut the key in cardstock and generously embossed it with Silver embossing powder. A simple but perfect embellishment for this card I think.

I created a shaker card by layering up foam behind an oval aperture. I cut a frame from white cardstock using two different sizes of oval dies and the fabulous paper inside the frame is the gorgeous digital paper from last months digital release set called Love In Red

There are several utterly perfect paper sets in last months release for Valentine's Card creating. I also used these fun shaker elements from Whimsy Stamps Valentine Sequin Assortment. They're on special right now, so grab a pack while you can!

I did pick out the pink sequins and save those for another creation. I added instead some shiny flat back pearls for a bit of shine in the mix. There's a very satisfying swish as the sequins shake about. I created a side opening card this time around. As I had some pre-scored card that fit perfectly.

I know my hubby will groan when I give this to him on Valentine's Day but secretly, he loves it really! For those of you who are curious about the song her wrote for me. You can have a listen here.

Come on over and see what the rest of the Whimsy Digital Divas have been up to on our Facebook page. There's loads of inspiration flowing in a constant stream over there, so it's a great place to visit for that little bit of inspiration boost!

Do head on over to the Whimsy Store to see the current new release goodies too and I'll be back next Wednesday for another Whimsy Wednesday Inspiration post. Hugs to you all and happy crafting xoxo

Beautiful card Wends! It's certainly romantic, love the shaker element with the lovely sequins. I'm sure your husband will be happy to receive it even if he pretends he isn't! He may not be a fan of Valentine's day (and I have to admit I'm with him there!) but he IS romantic to write and perform that song for you...much better than chocolates or flowers!
hugs

gorgeous Wendy. A great shaker card.
Wonderful card Wends - I went and listened to the song, and it was so much like my DH. We did not make a big fuss over Valentines, but we always shared a little something, and I was for years able to pick a red flower and to give him at breakfast along with his card. I miss that man.
Blessings

It's wonderful! Shaker cards hate me. I always end up with sticky somewhere it shouldn't be that grabs my shaker bits. LOL The key really is cute especially paired with the heart paper. The recipient will feel loved for sure. hugs!

This is such a sweet card. My hubby doesn't know when Valentine's Day is. I ask him what date it is every year and he hasn't a clue. He did buy me a card once, when we first started going out. I've still got it up on the bookcase 7 years later!

A perfect romantic "masculine" card if you get what I mean. I am sure your hubby will roll his eyes but love it too. Thanks for sharing it with us at Little Red Wagon this week.
This is such a great card and so perfect for your anti-Valentine's Day hubs! Ha, ha! I got a kick out of reading your post and love how you two can bond over bipolar feelings for Feb. 14th. I really do like what you did with this card, though, and surely a guy would appreciate the engineering behind a shaker card, right? Rest assured that it scored a 10+ in my book! Thank you for sharing your talents with us for this week's Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge!
