Whimsy Stamps ~ You Are Amazing

Hey crafty pals, I'm back with my next 'catch up' post. I am so delighted with this creation. It came together with such ease and was oh so lovely to create. I adore this pretty paper and the paper pad it comes from. I wanted as always, to let the pretty paper feature as much as possible, so rather than layer up different papers, I layered up the same paper, but using frames to create dimension and interest in the finished piece. The base layer is added directly to the card base, then the next layer on one thickness of foam and the next on two layers of foam. I added another layer of foam beneath the image too, so this really does 'pop up' and has lots of interest with the stitched elements on the frame. So simple, yet so effective I think. 

I used the pretty paper as the inspiration for the colouring of this image. I just LOVE the orange flowers on this paper and think the image looks super cute coloured up in orange too. I had a couple of goes at the eyes, because these Some Odd Girl images have amazing large eyes, so you can really play with interesting colouring on those. I started out with a rather more acid green but it didn't look as good as I'd hoped, so toned it down by adding blue over it and it softened to this pretty blue green eye finish.

I really loved colouring this image with the orange. I don't use bright colours enough in my creations. I think I'll go for a yellow creation next! Hehe, watch this space. But seriously, don't you think she's lovely in this happy sunny hue.
