Sweet November ~ Tropical Flutterbees Release
Crafty friends, paint me excited! I was asked to Guest Design for the Tropical Flutterbees Release this weekend at Sweet November Stamps! I adore Amy Young's designs, they are always so sweet and this release is no exception! There is the most enchanting release of tropical images coming your way! If you love Sweet November images as much as I do, let me encourage you to sign up to their newsletter. Amy very generously gives a freebie code to newsletter subscribers for one of her gorgeous images every month! I had the best time colouring up a couple of the sweet Flutterbee images from this release. Here is the first of my designs and I'll share the second over the weekend.
I paired this adorable image with some gorgeous Tropical elements from Whimsy Stamps. That sweet paper was such a great fit for this design. I've used a pretty pink wide organza ribbon to mute the paper a little where the image sits, and finished the design with a lovely 'sweet' diecut sentiment from Whimsy and the fabulous tropical leaves and pearl on the opposite corner to balance the design. I've always loved the sentiment, 'the world is your oyster, but you are the pearl' and this came to mind when I was adding the pearl to the leaves. The second part of the sentiment 'Holiday Memories' is from a Whimsy Clear Stamp Set that I thought fit this design beautifully, especially as my sis and her family have just had a visit to Hawaii and loved it! So I'll be sending this to her.
This sweet image is Ele from the Flutterbees Release. She's is just such a cutie. I had to try to colour up her gorgeous curly hair, something I often shy away from, because I just don't have confidence with hair on images, but there was something about this cutie, I just really wanted to try! Now I'm no Amy Young, but I really enjoyed colouring this curly cutie! I went for shades of grey and yes I totally went over and watched Faye Wynn Jones' colouring channel to get my head around the black hair colour combo. I love watching her colour! I've learnt so much from both these talented ladies, and after watching Faye colour black hair, thought I had enough colouring tips to give this a go!
After I'd finished the colouring there were a few elements that were getting a little lost, so I used my white gel pen to add some details to make it stand out a little more. I added some polka dots to the wee blue crop top and added some highlights to the butterflies, which I'd used too dark a colour to really show up well in all that curly black hair! I coloured them before the hair, and they got a little lost once I'd finished the hair. The highlights made them much more visible.
Now if you want to check out some seriously skilled colouring with beautiful backgrounds included, head on over to watch Amy Young colour up one of these sweet flutterbees on her Adventures in Coloring with Amy page, you can click through on the banner above. I'm in awe constantly of this talented lady! So you can imagine my joy to be asked to guest design for her! I hope you enjoyed my creation today. Thanks for popping in to visit and I'll see you again soon with the second creation I made for this fabulous release. Hugs, Wends xoxo
