Whimsy Stamps ~ Let It Snow

Hey crafty friends, I hope your December is going well. My youngest has his advent calendar now and is enjoying counting down the days to Christmas. It's such a magical time of year, I wish the world felt like this all year long. There's a sense of optimism and joy in the air. That's if you don't go near the Mall, there it feels hurried and impersonal. We usually trim our Christmas tree as a family on December 1st, but had too much going on, so we'll be trimming it today, which is actually my besties birthday in Sweden, so seems appropriate and we'll be thinking of her and her family as we hang little Christmas decorations from our visits to Sweden and that were gifts from them. Our tree is filled with happy memories as most of our decorations have special meaning and memories attached. It's an eclectic collection, many are gifts from friends abroad, so they are magical to us. Seems appropriate to be waxing nostalgic about Sweden as my make today says 'Let It Snow', which of course it won't in Auckland as we have a Summer Christmas. But this reminds me so much of happy memories visiting our Swedish friends around Christmas and New Year, where the snow lay on the ground, the night air was crisp and cold but the glögg and our hearts were warm.

These drinks images very much remind me of drinking glögg with our Swedish friends, it's a bit like the British mulled wine and very yummy! So I've coloured up these cute images to reflect that and added them as a simple embellishment to these otherwise 'stand alone' fabulous large word dies. If I'd been quicker creating them I'd have included them in my besties Christmas parcel! These images are part of a fun set by Krista Heij-Barber that was released at the end of November by Whimsy Stamps called Cocktails Clear Stamps.

To create that cool blue enamel like panel, I covered a page with clear embossing ink and then added my new embossing powder from Simon Says Stamp called Mermaid Blue. I thought it might add a lovely bit of sheen to this large word die panel. The fun thing with this type of die, is you can cut two different cardstocks and use both the positive and the negative, making it really simple to create two gorgeous cards at once! The photos don't do justice to the lovely sheen and sparkle from these two papers. The second paper is a lovely silver shed-free glitter cardstock from my stash. It's from a craft store here in New Zealand called Spotlight.

I've used a lovely paper set from Whimsy as the base of these cards which I've cut with the pretty Sprinkles Scallops Rectangle Die Set from Whimsy. It adds a lovely and interesting border to a simple A2 card.

As I mentioned in my last post, the December 1st Release is Whimsy's last one for this year and what a year it's been. I've been so busy, I feel like my legs haven't caught up with the rest of me for months now! Getting sick was the longest break I've had in a while and not my favourite way to 'rest'! Hehe, self imposed busyness and I never learn. But it's been full of fun creative adventures which fills my heart with such joy. Wishing you a wonderful week. Hugs and happy crafting adventures, Wends xoxo

Such beautiful cards Wends- full of snowy sparkle and festive cheer, I love them! Enjoy trimming your tree and the happy memories your ornaments bring. I still have decorations my children made when they were small (a long time ago- my 'baby' will be 40 next year!)

Gorgeous cards Wendy. Got home this afternoon to find hubby had picked up a tree today... love the smell of fresh pine! We will be adding the decorations tomorrow. We have a rather tired looking bird - but it was the first decoration we bought when we were first married... 45 years ago!
