Sweet Stampin' ~ All You Need Is Love

Hey crafty friends, it's the end of January and I'm starting to create again. I made the elements for this card just after Christmas when I was exploring my new Hot Foiling Glimmer Machine. It was such a lovely Christmas present to get from my hubby and I'm so glad I spotted the fabulous sale at Ribbon Rose that made it possible just before Christmas. I've only had one play so far, but I did foil a few panels during that play, so I'll share these over this next month. I shared the very first card I made previously, so this is the second card made with my Hot Foil Machine. I absolutely love how this turned out. We are having a 'LOVE' themed challenge at Sweet Stampin' this time around, so I've made a card sharing love for a friend.

I've used a Foil Plate my sister brought back from the States for me. She's so lovely and will bring back a small parcel when she visits, of brands I cannot get in New Zealand easily, which is always such a treat. I guest design for Spellbinders occasionally and really enjoy using their beautiful products, so I was so excited to get the fabulous Glimmer Hot Foil System for Christmas. I'm enjoying exploring it, but needed a creative break over January, so have just had the one play so far.

I think this is such a beautiful sentiment and I have a few special friends I could easily send this to, but with the 'book theme', there's one who comes to mind immediately, so this will be winging its way to Sweden. My Swedish bestie is an avid reader and this theme which celebrates both reading and our connection, is a lovely sentiment for her.

We each have a kiddo turning 21 this month and I need to get a card made for her boyo, but thought I'd include this in his parcel for his mama. We both love 'snail mail' letters and have sent hand-written letters to each other since moving back to our home countries. I adore getting her letters, I savour reading them. I sit with a warm drink and take my time catching up on the news. There's just something special and so much more personal about a hand-written letter, I think I love sending cards so much for this reason.

There is such a lovely shine to this creation. The foil I used is the Deco Foil Hot Foil in Copper from Therm-O-Web. I had some lovely dark cardstock I'd been tidying away on my table and thought this would make a lovely combination. I foiled the white cardstock, which is just Hammermill 100lb Coverstock. But the sentiment didn't foil flawlessly, so I decided to use the enclosed oval die from the Betterpress set and attempt to foil the sentiment on the Merlot cardstock. It came out so well. It overfoiled in a few places, but I just used some washi tape and carefully picked up the overfoiling with the sticky side of the tape. Slowly and gently is the trick with this, but it worked a treat! I love how the copper foiled on the Merlot cardstock, so pretty! I diecut the white panel with a Simon Says Stamp A2 Postage Rectangles Die Set. I used the second down from the largest, so it left a lovely border of the Merlot cardstock around it. I lined the cardbase with a white panel to write on and popped up both the foiled white panel and the oval sentiment on mid-loft foam for a bit of dimension and interest.

I hope you'll come and join our current challenge at Sweet Stampin', we'd love to see your interpretation of our 'Love' theme, we'd love to see what you're inspired to do. My teamies have some awesome creations, so do pop by the blog to check those out too, you can click through on the banner above. I'll be back soon with another crafty creation, now I'm back in my craft zone again. Hugs, Wends xoxo
