Whimsy Stamps ~ To Cherish

Hey crafty friends, I'm popping in today with a sweet creation I've made for our lovely au pair back in London. She's just had her first bubba and she was such an important and lovely part of my kiddies young years in London, it's wonderful to see her embarking on her own journey of motherhood. I've already sent her a gorgeous parcel from Pure Mama - my sister-in-law and her sister's company, which is perfect for new mummas. If you've got a friend or family member in their mothering years, check them out, best maternity and post-partum products in the world! But of course I wanted to have a special card to send to her, so I've made this lovely one to post over.

Sylvia Zet, one of the talented artists for Whimsy Stamps, has just released a few new images and this little cutie happened to be one of them and was absolutely perfect for what I had in mind! I've coloured the image with Copic Markers and stippled a few dots around the image to complete the colouring and fill the background a little.

I diecut the image with one of Whimsy's Pierced and Stitched Circles Dies and backed it with a paper doily from my stash. I had some beautiful ribbons in my stash which toned so perfectly with this gorgeous Pastel Plaid Paper from Whimsy, so I wrapped the large pink ribbon around the cardstock to create a central strip of interest. I pulled out some blue seam binding which toned well with the blues in the paper and wrapped that around the plaid paper too, over the doily and finished it with a lush hand-tied triple bow.

I wanted something to balance things on the left of the design, so pulled out my lovely Slimline Dragonflies Background Die from Whimsy and diecut a few dragonflies to add to the design. I cut several, but opted to only use three in the end, the balance was better, it looked cluttered with more. I diecut these sweet dragonflies from Scrapbook.com's new Glimmer Cardstock. I used the Soft Blue Glimmer Cardstock to cut the dragonflies from. It has a lovely soft shimmer to this cardstock and the tone of this paper was such a perfect fit with the blue seam binding.

I went back to an older style of crafting for me, for this make. Back to my 'root's. Lace, pretty paper, bows, doilies, they were all part of my early crafting and those my style changes and I try new things along the way, I do find I come back to this style occasionally, for its soft romantic finishes. I think it's rather perfect for this image. I toyed with adding pearls in the corners, but felt it had enough going on and loved the plaid paper having some space to feature too.

I'll be posting this soon, I just need to find or make an envelope it fits. This is just slightly larger than the 6x6 paper, which I didn't cut down any. I just distressed the edges with my scissors. I often use my Tim Holtz Paper Distressing Tool, but couldn't put my hands on it this time, so scissors it was.

There are some amazing and really fun new products out at Whimsy Stamps right now. Click through on the image above to see the latest. There are some really fun elements and several I really want to get! Now I'm about as removed as you could get, from Cowboy Culture, down here in New Zealand, but I'll let you in on a little secret; when I was about 8 or 9 years old, I had recurring dreams, that I owned the most fabulous cowgirl boots, in pinks and reds and other fabulous colours. They were glitzy and gorgeous and though I never did get my cowgirl boots, I've never forgotten those dreams! So I am thinking these images are particularly fun. Thanks for popping in today, I'll be back again soon, with another crafty adventure. Until then, have a beautiful weekend and happy crafting, Wends xoxo

(I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever. It helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
