Fab 'n' Funky - It's our Birthday!

Woohoo, yep, you read right, it's Fab 'n' Funky's 5th Birthday!! So just to keep the fun rolling, we are celebrating over two weeks of wonderful challenges and fantastic sponsorship. We would love to see your 'birthday' makes this week and we have two fabulous sponsors, Fitztown Stamps and Sassy Studios Designs. Both offering gorgeous stamps as prizes. Not to be missed!

All the design team have been given images to use for this challenge by our two wonderful sponsors. Mine is from Fitztown and is called Fae 2. I just love this image. I find it enchanting. It was a pure pleasure to colour and I've actually made a framed picture on this occasion rather than a card.

I've coloured the image with my Promarkers and actually on this occasion a rather large number of Flexmarkers to get the subtle tones. I started with an utterly beautiful digital paper by Michele Roos from her Rose Cottage Charms collection. This page is the first in that collection. I just love the shabby chic finish of the paper and the soft subtle colour palette. It's a really pretty collection and this was the perfect base for my creation.

I layered the image in 'Word' on top of the digital paper and softened the edges of the image to make it look as if it was part of the paper. I then coloured the image with my Pro and Flexmarkers and added a strip of pretty pink lace to finish and a birthday message stamped straight onto the lovely Michele Roos paper. I used Smokey Plum from the Close to my Heart ink collection to stamp the sentiment as I didn't want to have a stark contrast by using black ink. The sentiment is from the Amy R Stamps for CC Designs called Starry Sentiments. I love Amy R Stamps and have quite a number of these sentiment sheets. They just have some really gorgeous combinations and I thought this lovely one was perfect for this wistful sweet image.

The next image is a close peek at the glittered wings and the colouring on the flowers. I used 5 different colours on the flowers! The wings were glittered with Diamond Stickles. I just did the veins, rather than the whole wing. I think this looks better on this image. A little more subtle.

This wee make will be winging it's way to England for my South African pals little girl. It's her 5th birthday this month and she was my son Zac's first lil' gal pal. He adores her and still speaks of her often, so I always feel drawn to make something a little bit special for her. I made her card last month, but thought this would be gorgeous to include in her birthday parcel.

Pop on over to the Fab 'n' Funky to join in with us in our 5th birthday celebrations. We'd love to see your birthday makes. All you have to do is have a birthday theme to your creation, so that's pretty easy right? Check out the gorgeous creations made by my lovely team mates too. I've had quite a mammoth month, so many celebrations and wonderful gatherings of family, so I'm looking forward to have some quiet time back in my craft room. See you again really soon. Hugs, Wends x

Absolutely gorgeous Wends, so beautifully coloured and love the stickles added just to the veins and not the whole of the wings like I did.
