Sweet Stampin' ~ Occupations

Big hello waves to all my crafty pals out there. It's Saturday again already, so time for a new Sweet Stampin' challenge to go live. We have an awesome theme for you this week, which is 'Occupations'. We'd love to see any stamps you have that depict occupations. I was tempted to try and do a 'stay at home mama' creation, but I thought it might be lost a bit in the brief. So that made me think about the other hats I've worn, and although my most recent career was as a clinical aromatherapist (I used to have four clinics across London when we lived there) I still always think of myself as a 'Nurse'. I loved my nursing years. It seems like a lifetime ago now, but those were some of the most fun (and exhausting) of my career. I used to work in Paediatrics and we had an awesome crew on the wards. I still miss my nursing buddies, though some I gladly still keep in touch with.

I love Maya Angelou's quote and think it rings true as a mantra for nurses. It's a special calling, a caring profession and with my wee creation I want to honour all those who work in this profession and who do the hard stuff that many wouldn't have the stomach or heart to. I was proud to work as a nurse and so that is my occupation of choice to create for, celebrate and honour today.

My printer is still being really naughty despite the numerous attempts at fixing, tweaking, cleaning, kicking, that have been done. So digi's were not an option which is so annoying as I had a super cute nurse digi! So I went for plan B, as I couldn't find my lovely Elisabeth Bell doctor stamp either! I decided to make a wee nurses bag and used a cute template for the bag creation and then added a lovely wee tag stamped with a Sugar Pea sentiment to finish off the creation. Very simple, but I think conveys my message pretty well.

I love the simplicity of the design, it was a quick make once the fussy cutting was done! I used a little velcro dot to secure the flap closed, so it can be opened and filled with a treat for that deserving someone. I used an MFT stitched tag die to create the wee tag and as I mentioned earlier, the sentiment is from a Sugar Pea set called 'Caring Hearts'. Kinda perfect I think.

Well that's all folks. I am getting super excited to be taking my 12 year old (a joint birthday present for us both) to her first big concert tomorrow and need to do some research on transport, because apparently, having ADELE in the country, has shut our CBD down and our council has put special travel arrangements in place for the concert goers. So I need to jump online and work it all out. Woohoo, I can't wait! Two very, very, VERY excited Jackson girls in the house!!

I hope you'll head on over to the blog and check out what my talented teamies have been up to, they've some truly inspiring creations to share with you and as always, feel free to leave us some comments on our DT creations, we love hearing from you! Come and join us in the challenge too if you can, we'd love to see what you create! I'll be back again soon, with or without a working printer, with a new DT creation, so watch this space. Hugs to you all, Wends xoxo

This is a great idea Wends, you've come out on top despite your printer problems! The little bag is sweet and the sentiment is lovely! A 'stay at home Mum' card is a great idea but would probably be a bit busy !! :))
Hope you and Georgie have a fantastic time at the concert!

What a fabulous project idea Wendy! I love the concept, and the final design is amazing, but I think what I love more is your inspiration for this. The world would be such a lovely place to live if more people had your heart. You are a wonderful artist and and an even more wonderful person, so honoured to know you!!! sending hugs :)
