Whimsy Wednesday ~ Christmas Wish List

A warm hello to you all out there in the blogosphere today. I have my Whimsy Wednesday Inspiration post to share with you today and I gotta tell ya, this was a bit of a trick in the making. I had to ruminate on this one for quite a while to work out how to get my vision on the page! But man am I glad I stuck at it. I know have a very gorgeous Christmas Planning Diary.

This beautiful paper is part of a range of digital papers that Whimsy just released called Winter Wonderland and this set is FULL of the most divine Winter scenes. I just couldn't figure out which paper to work with at first as they're all so delish! But I had a definite vision of what I wanted to do with the paper. I have wanted a Christmas Diary for the longest time, one where I can write Christmas card lists and pressie idea lists. I had a 'ready to decorate' kraft diary in my stash with little divider tabs down the side, so this gorgeous paper was the perfect thing to jazz up this plain diary. What took me the longest time, was to work out a design that didn't cover the gorgeous paper but enhanced it. What I settled on I'm really pleased with. It's very CAS as I didn't want to loose any of the gorgeous image. I did have to trim the image down a little on the sides to fit, but otherwise the paper is fully visible.

Shot in soft focus to show the sparkle

All I've done is add a sprinkling of loose glitter over the design, to enhance the existing snowfall in the paper and then I added a sentiment cut from silver glitter cardstock using two Whimsy dies. The 'believe' die is part of a lovely set of dies from Whimsy called Wonderland Word Die Set and the Christmas Large Word Die is a stand alone die.

I wanted the sentiment to say 'Believe in Christmas', as lately, my littlies growing up are questioning the magic of it and although they 'know', I still want to encourage the mystery and magic of Christmas for as long as their lil' hearts will allow. I added the 'in' part of the sentiment, by masking off a sentiment I had in my stash leaving that portion of it visible, inking it up with Versamark ink and then adding Hero Arts fine silver embossing powder and melting it with my heat gun. It's almost impossible to capture well the sparkle and glitter of this notebook design, but in reality it's lovely and sparkly. I tied some old organza ribbon that used to part of a scrunchy hair tie of my daughters, which broke. I had kept all the ribbon to use for just such an occasion. I love how this came out!

A softer shot taken in the shade without the harsh shadows of the first pic.

Head on over to the Whimsy Stamps Store to see what else they have in their New Digital Release line up, there are just so many gorgeous paper sets and lovely sentiments sets. All perfect for that quick download and instant use! I love digital elements for last minute Christmas crafting. There are some fab 'pre-coloured' sets of images and sentiments too, which are super handy for those hasty last minute Christmas makes. I hope you enjoyed my inspiration post today and I'll be back again next Wednesday with my next Whimsy Wednesday Inspiration Post. See you all again very soon with another crafty adventure. Big hugs to you all and happy crafting!
