Dragon My Heels

Hehe, see what I did there? 'Dragon' my heels! Okay, okay, hubby always says, explaining the joke kills it, but seriously, I have been dragging my heels, with this particular situation. Mostly because when I posted 'this' original post, I really wasn't happy with the creation. You may recall I never stuck the bits down, just played with paper. So here is my take 2 and I've not been able to reveal this until today, because I was waiting for the gorgeous brand new paper from Whimsy Stamps to be released! The whole June new release is now live so I'm sharing my 'redux' version of this card with you today.

I decided against that layer of patterned paper that had the zingy motives in the end, I just felt like it was fighting for attention with these two cuties, and I wanted the spotlight to be firmly on them. So I popped the finished central layer of this creation up on foam and added it to the diecut base. I just love these big Go Kreate Frilly Frames. I have a few now and won't buy any more, because I have my favourites, so you'll just see the same ones used again and again. But I really think they add something to a creation that is otherwise quite CAS. Now my printer is still being a mare, so that blotchy patch down the left is not in the paper design, but as it's a more grunge style paper, I just went with it and didn't try to cover it. Extra 'relic'ing if you like, hehe. It doesn't show this beautiful paper up in it's best light, but watch this space, I will show you more of this gorgeous paper set very soon.

The image is as it was in the original post, this view washes out the sky a bit (it's actually a very pale blue, not cream!), but shows off those two cuties from the MFT BB Magical Dragons set really well. There's Wink of Stella on their wings & horns, though not easy to see in this light. I used my Copic pens in Blue-Greens to colour up these cuties. The sweet scalloped frame is a CC Designs die.

The sentiment I used is also from the BB Magical Dragons set, though I covered the word 'you' with a lil' bird and added a diecut 'You' from a fabulous SugarPea Word Die. I glittered the 'You' and added it over the clouds which I've altered just slightly from the original post. There is a mix of clouds in a pale blue/grey and a pretty warm white with a nice sheen to it. The floating hearts all have Wink of Stella on them, which sparkle nicely when they catch the light.

So there it is, the finished card, with the beautiful new Whimsy Stamps digital paper from a brand new set called Floral Beauty that is now available in store. If you missed my new release posts for Whimsy Stamps June release, you can click here and here. I'll be back later tonight with another Whimsy Stamps Inspiration post, so do pop back in soon. Have an awesome day. Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo

What a sweetie Wends - I am glad you waited to finish the card as this is perfect. Love your clouds!!

For computer printing and embossing on vellum, I run the antistatic pad over the vellum before printing, and have the embossing powder close by so the vellum goes from the printer to the powder quickly - the ink will dry, but more slowly than on regular paper. When I heat it I keep the heat gun moving as it can scorch easily (ask me how I know!!)
