Whimsy Stamps ~ Rainbow Family
Hey crafty friends, did you know it's Pride Month in the US? Well it is, and as I have some very precious Rainbow Family in my life, I wanted to honour this month with a fun creation. One thing that is often shared until one finds 'their tribe', is a feeling of being different, not fitting in, standing out in an awkward way and this funny kitty just struck me as being rather perfect for the creation I envisioned. So for anyone out there for whom this resonates, I send you a great big hug of acceptance and love.
So here is my hommage to the Rainbow community. I completely adore this cute Blending In stamp set and really do think it's perfect for this creation. I intended only to use the ink blended portion of the actual stamp, but I loved how the whole panel looked so much, that I just popped up the image on foam and worked the additional ink blended panel into the design. I had masked the edge of the paper with some Mint Tape to keep a nice crisp line, I love how this looks, so rather than trim this off, I used it as an additional 'matt' frame in the design. I diecut the image with the matching die, which made this whole process, so much easier! I added the sentiment from the Whimsy Simple Sentiment Strips Clear Stamps set and white heat embossed it, so it stood out from the darker ink blending around it. I added a tiny confetti rainbow too to finish the design. This came from a super cute sequin set from Picket Fence Studios called Day of Rainbows. I bought this a while back and have been wanting to use it! I also have a cute rainbow set from Whimsy's This Calls For Confetti range, but it is in pink hues, not red, so I'll save those cuties for a toning make another day.
When I'd finished ink blending the image, it was needing a little contrast in places to let the image really pop. So I used a water brush to lift some of the ink from the areas between the doggies. I also added some white gel pen to the eyes where the ink blending had covered the whites of their eyes and in places also added some black gel pen details to some of the noses and irises, so they were shiny and not matt from the ink. Such a quick but fun creation and I know it's going to make someone I love very much, smile!
Thanks for popping in today friends, I hope you enjoyed this crafty adventure. I'll be back again soon with another one, very soon in fact, because we're running out of month and I've still more to share! So until then, have a beautiful week. Big hugs xoxo
