Whimsy Stamps ~ A Little Bit Irish

Hey lovelies, I'm back again with a fun share using some fabulous creative elements designed with St Patrick's Day in mind. I do actually have Irish ancestry, which is kinda fun to tap into as St Paddy's Day rolls around. It might explain my passion and obsession with the colour green (or not, hehe). But one thing is for sure, I have a big love for two Irish words, Shenanigans and Malarkey, I say them both, a lot! Hehe. So of course I have to have 'all the things' that Whimsy produces that feature these words and the Malarkey Word Die is super fun! 

I made a fun card featuring this word die front and centre. I'll finish the sentiment on the inside of the card. I ink blended a panel of paper and diecut it with the gorgeous Slimline Shamrocks Die, giving me lots of fabulous little shamrocks to create a fun and interesting background with. I think this die is fabulous and as a symbol of luck and good wishes perfect for anything 'Good Luck' related. Starting a new job, new course, new school, new adventure, happy retirement, you know what I mean. Definitely not just for St Paddy's Day creations.

I ink splattered the background for this card using some delish mica stains and sprays from Tim Holtz and Lindy's. I then laid the shamrocks down over the ink splattered background for an added bit of fun and interest. I then added the Malarkey diecut word which I cut in black to create a shadow behind the green and offset them slightly when adding them to the base.

I added the largest of the 3in1 Mitered Frames Die Set, which I popped up on foam for a bit of dimension and interest. I could at this point have turned this into a shaker card, but I just wanted the dimension on this occasion.

The green cardstock I used has a lovely sheen to it, so up close it's really pretty and worked so well with the lovely sparkle and sheen added by the mica sprays. Final touch was to add the fun St Paddy's Day hat from the Malarkey Word Die Set. I tucked a shamrock behind the band of the hat and finished the design with a smokey grey flat backed pearl from the Honey Bee Cool Tone Pearls Collection.

Apologies for the different hues of green through the article, I did several different shoots for this card, to try to capture the mica shine and other details and the differening lights affected the shade of green. The last shot above is quite a good representation of the colour of the cardstock.
