Fab 'n' Funky ~ In The Garden
Hey there my lovely blogging buddies. After my disgraceful late post for the last Fab 'n' Funky challenge I thought I'd better get in early this week, so here I am scheduling this post well before it's due, so blogger don't let me down! We are having an awesome Easter break right now. My kiddos finished their first school term on Thursday last and now we have two blissful weeks off. I'm hoping to take them up North to our family bach, but we are forecast a cyclone! So we'll have to see what happens with that. It's hit the middle of our North Island quite badly, but seems to have missed Auckland at this stage. The footage is alarming and funny at the same time, with some typical blasé Kiwi attitudes of getting out the surfboards to make the most of the swells! Not so fun for the families who have had to evacuate their homes to drier ground though. My thoughts and well wishes are with them all.
Isn't she a sweetheart?! I love the gorgeous yesteryear design, the hat tip to the 1960's glamourous backcombed 'beehive' hairstyles. I remember a beautiful picture of my mummy's twin sister sporting a rather glamourous hairstyle quite similar to this back in the day. It's not apparent in the above picture, but I've added some Wink of Stella on the daisies petals for a bit of glitter and shine and some liquid pearl accents on her lovely string of pearls necklace.
I often colour first and panic afterwards that I'll not find papers to match, so I was happily surprised to find a gorgeous and rather perfect plaid paper in my digital papers collection from The Digital Press designer Anita Designs. Her collection called The Best of Times, has a lovely selection of papers and this plaid paper had such soft pretty colours in the perfect combo of shades to work with the image I'd just coloured with my Promarkers.
I had my birthday recently and my hubby and son organised a rather gorgeous treat for me. They decided these fabulous Go Kreate frames might get damaged if they weren't wrapped in something a little sturdier, so my little guy chose this sweet story from his bedtime stories collection to wrap mummy's present in! Totally melted my heart, bless him! Needless to say, I was pretty stoked with my gorgeous new dies too! I love these dies and have been wanting this #7 shape for quite a while, so it was a super lovely birthday treat to be given these. This card is my first creation using these lovely new dies.
The pretty glittery butterflies I've used on this creation were also a birthday present, bought through a wonderful Etsy artisan called Angelica. Her store 'Little Scrap Shop' is full of the most enchanting and beautiful embellishments for papercrafting. I love the little silver spoons! I paired the sweet butterflies with a Joycrafts butterfly border and added the full butterfly on top of the border ones, so you see the full wing span. The littlest one I picked up pre-loved from a crafty pal recently. I was so pleased with that, as I had been trying to hunt down this smaller butterfly for some time now. The larger one you'll recognise as the same one I had as a candy recently. My favourite butterfly shape, it's so pretty. I've embellished the paper butterflies to match the black and blue ones from the Etsy artisan. So a bit of ink to their antennae and some lovely 'Flourish With A Bling' pearls and they worked far better together. I love that their pearls come in packs with lots of different sizes in a range of beautiful colours. I used some pretty cream cotton lace and a darker teal ribbon to finish the card. All the paper edges and the paper butterflies were edged with Ingvild Bolme Chalk Ink in a lovely pale blue shade called Worn Jeans.
Well that was rather more wordy than I meant to be! I hope you'll come on over to Fab 'n' Funky and check out what my awesome teamies have been up to. Our lovely blog mama Judith is our hostess this week. Pop in to her blog and check out all the awesomeness happening there. She's had a number of her beautiful creations for Crafter's Companion featured on Hochanda TV recently. So her blog is full of inspiration. She chose the theme 'In The Garden' for our current challenge. We'd love to see how you interpret this. I'll be back again very soon with my next crafty adventure. My blog's like a London bus right now! LOL. Hugs to you all and I'll see you soon, Wends xoxo
