Whimsy Stamps ~ Cutest Autumn Photo Bomb
Hey crafty friends, I'm channelling all the Autumnal vibes right now, which is so funny, because it's Spring here! But I'm having so much fun with the gorgeous Autumn stamps at Whimsy and this is the fourth creation I've made with an Autumnal theme recently. I so loved creating this today, I couldn't wait to share! I'll share the previous two I made very soon. I started this card off by ink blending the background with Bundled Sage Distress Ink on Strathmore Bristol Smooth Cardstock, which I then splattered with water for a bit of texture.
I had such a fun idea, when I saw this awesome FaDoodle Fall stamp set from Faye Wynn-Jones for Whimsy Stamps, I wanted to create a photo line up of pumpkins as if they're posing to get the best spot in the pumpkin patch and wouldn't you know if this lil' spider didn't just drop down and photo bomb them! I stamped the sweet tiny spider from the stamp set, but I muffed it up and smudged it, so I grabbed a puffy sticker set of spiders and popped one over the top of the stamped one. I stamped the spider web corner from the set, with London Fog Memento Ink, so it was lighter and then drew over it with sparkly gelly roll. I didn't want the cobweb corner to overshadow the pumpkins, so chose a lighter shade that would let it recess into the background more. This also meant the wee spider in the darker hues pops more at the end of his wee silk thread.
How cute are all those faces on the pumpkins?! I used the little faces that come with the main set, but wanted to add some additional expressions and recalled that another Whimsy set in my stash also had cute little faces that might work with these pumpkins. So I pulled out the Cute Cacti Stamp Set and used a few of the expressions from that set on the pumpkins. I ink blended a background with a mix of colours, so I could have orange pumpkins but also the traditional 'blue' pumpkins we have more commonly here in New Zealand. I used Speckled Egg Distress Oxide for those blue pumpkins and a mix of orange oxides for the others including Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber and Dried Marigold. I stamped the pumpkins and then added the cute little faces over the ink blended backgrounds. I fussy cut them to add the rows of pumpkins. I added back in, white details where needed and finished off the card with a lovely sentiment from an older Whimsy Stamps set designed by Nina Marie Trapani called From A Friend. The lovely vine leaves I inked in Bundled Sage Distress Ink, not the oxide, just the regular ink. The vine die is from Crissy Armstrong's Leaf Foliage 1 set. This is out of stock now at Whimsy, but still available at some retailers.
Thanks for stopping in to visit me today, I appreciate it so much. I will be back soon with another crafty adventure, I hope you've enjoyed seeing this cute Autumnal make and if it's Autumn where you are, enjoy these lovely days of change. I wish you a wonderful week and look forward to stopping in to visit your blogs soon too. Hugs xoxo
