Whimsy Stamps ~ Even More Hexagon Fun ~ Part 4

Hey crafty friends, I'm back with the final (for now) of my Hexagon Series of cards. This was actually the first of the cards I made in this series and was inspired by my young nephew who had a Soccer themed Birthday Party recently. This was the make that started my Hexagon Series off and the ideas for the other cards grew out of this play.

I created this design by placing the white hexagons onto a large piece of black cardstock, leaving sections to allow the black shapes to show through. It wasn't super easy to get these behaving perfectly, I did wind up with some lumpy bits from not paying good attention to how I laid a piece down. But it wasn't too difficult really to get a pattern that resembled what you'd see on a soccer ball. I will add my nephews age under the 'super cool' sentiment, but couldn't find those adhesive numbers in time for this post. Btu this is why the sentiment sits slightly higher on the card design.

For the sentiment, I inked a strip of paper with the Tsukineko Kaleidacolor stamp pad in the Blue Breeze colourway. I cut two sentiments as I wasn't sure which part of the ombré blend I would want the sentiment cut from. I tried both and the light blend looked best.

I stacked the big letters up with a couple of layers of white behind each one, then added them to the vellum shadow. I added some thin foam behind the C and second O for a little extra lift. I then added that to the soccer ball card base. I diecut the super word from a single layer of cardstock and added that above the 'cool' word. I love the way this blue palette pops on the black and white background.

I created the card part of the soccer ball by cutting a second large white circle, scoring it about half an inch in from one of the edges and adhered this flat to the soccer ball panel, so it has a hinged card backing. An easy option for cards such as this. This card fits in a 6x6 envelope or slightly smaller, I think this one is closer to 5 3/4 inches square. The large circle die I used is about 5 inches in diameter.

Thanks for popping in today friends. I hope you'll leave a comment if you've come by. I love to return the favour! Whimsy has had two fun releases during June and the next one is lined up for July 15th which is now just a few days away, so watch for that! I'll be back soon with another crafty adventure. Until then, hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo
