Sweet Stampin' ~ All Hallows' Eve ~ Batman for Louis

Hey crafty friends, it's time for a new challenge over at Sweet Stampin' and this time we're having fun with Halloween creations! For those who don't celebrate Halloween you can create with Halloween Colours instead. A good compromise I think. I'm sharing a card I made for a family friend who is a huge Batman fan. He's just turned 21 and I thought this would make a really fun 21st card for him. I actually made this ahead of time for his birthday, back when I did the Stenciled 2 class with Online Card Classes.

I followed a technique that Cathy Zielske taught shifting the stencil just a smidge to get a shadow effect. I did it twice with the bat stencil, which ironically was a stencil she designed for Simon Says Stamp. You can see the shifted stencilling best in the lower half of the design.

I did the stencilling in 3 steps, first with Lost Shadow Distress Ink, then the second layer with Black Soot Distress Ink and the final layer I did with Marcasite Stardust Butter from The Crafter's Workshop. This dried pretty quickly and happily stamped very well over the Mica Stain layer I'd added first. I sprayed with the concentration towards the bottom of the cardstock, so it lightened towards the top. I really like the effect.

It was a really fun technique and I think really worked with this stencil design. I really love how this card came out and the little bat diecut which is also from CZ Designs for Simon Says Stamp, finished the fun look of this card perfectly! When I found this stencil and die at Simon Says Stamps, I also noted that they had the Riley and Company range, which I really like for their fun and sassy sentiments and wouldn't ya know that they had a 'perfect' sentiment to match?!

So I stamped the sentiment in black VersaFine Clair ink on vellum and embossed it with clear embossing powder and wrapped it around the card panel to finish. I wanted to vellum to 'match' with the simple stitched frame die I'd used, so ran the vellum through top and bottom with the same die to get a nice faux stitched edge before adding it to the card panel. I wrapped the vellum edge around the back and adhered it to the reverse of the panel, so no glue would show through the vellum. I matched the card with a lovely Gina K Designs Key Lime Envelope which matched so beautifully, I was delighted!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my Halloween colours creation. Ironic that for this challenge, I'm not creating an actual Halloween card! I've created so many these past few months and there will yet be more, but I really wanted to share this card with you and it does have perfect Halloween colours! I will of course be back very soon with another Halloween creation. We're so close to Halloween now, I'm worried I'll run out of time to blog all I've created! So there will be more.

Thank you for popping in to visit today friends. I hope you'll come and join us for our All Hallows' Eve Challenge. It would be fun to see what you're inspired to do. Do pop over and check out the fabulous creations by my talented teamies too. So inspiring! I'll be back soon with another crafty adventure, until then, have a fabulous weekend and wonderful week ahead. Hugs, Wends xoxo
