Whimsy Stamps ~ Sneaking Santa

Hey crafty friends, I’ve been down for a few days with an icky bug. I’m still in isolation and I'm super frustrated as one of my kiddos has surgery tomorrow, which I ought to be there supporting them through, but I cannot because of this horrid bug! So I'm doing what I can to occupy my time, now that I'm feeling a little better. So I've shared these creations over on Instagram, but not had my laptop until today, to be able to share here. Amazing how much a little 'connection' can lift your spirits!

I've used a really fun new die set from Whimsy to create these ornament shaped tags called Loopdidoos. Isn't that a cute name?! I wanted all the pattern paper to show on my design, so I infilled even where there ought to be gaps with the paper again. Wrapping the ribbon around the little swirl, rather then stringing it through, but this was to give as seemless an effect with the patterened paper as possible and I love how they turned out.

I’ve stamped the reverse of each creation with cute sentiments included in the stamp set, but the cutest bit I think, ‘is the creeping shadows on the neighbours roof, could this be Santa? Could this be proof?’ You can just imagine a little one enjoying these scenes and the magic and delight they might bring. I stamped the little Santa and Rudolph images on the two papers that had more grey hues with Black Soot Oxide Ink. I could have chosen VersaFine Clair Nocturne, but I liked the slightly see-through shadow like nature this ink gave, so chose not to darken it. I did use the VersaFine Nocturne for the sentiments on the back though. For the tag that had more blue tones in the paper, I stamped the sneaking characters in Chipped Sapphire Oxide Ink. I did initially stamp the characters on the blue version in weathered wood, then Stormy Sky as I didn't want to go too dark, but the chipped Sapphire gave the nicest shadow-like finish.

To create the base layer, I traced around the outside of the die, I used a pen and wasn't worried about the ink showing as I inked the outside edges of the base layers with the same inks that I stamped the characters with, so even if they showed after fussy cutting, the oxide ink blended them in. I did use a blue pen for the one that had blue details and black for the other two.

I had such fun making these ‘sneaking Santa and Rudolph’ creations. I think they’ll make great hanging ornaments for the tree. I may yet mount them to a card base for gifting, but was pretty happy with them as is. I think the little ones in our extended family will really enjoy these creations. Thanks for popping in to visit, I'm not sure when I'll be creating again just yet, as I won't be in my craft room for another couple of days, but fingers crossed the time goes fast! I do have another cute creation from this release already made to share, so will try to do that tomorrow. Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo
