Whimsy Stamps ~ Dragonflies Sympathy Card

Hey crafty pals, I'm back with a creation I've made commissioned by my lovely mum. She has a dear friend who has just lost their youngest child and she asked if I could make a card for her to give them while they were staying with her to attend his funeral. I was pressed for time, as she needed it the next day. I wanted to keep the tone soft and yet uplifting and found myself drawn to this beautiful dragonfly slimline die which I'd used recently.

I ink blended the beautiful dragonfly panel with three of the newer shades of Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Inks in Kale, Artichoke and Cabbage. I got a beautiful blend first time with these inks. I splattered some Perfect Pearls in water over the ink blended panel, which was cut with the beautiful Slimline Dragonflies Background Die from Whimsy. I kept the design simple, just adding back a few of the diecut dragonflies with some SBC soft blue glitter pen painted over their wings and body. This die is one of my favourite slimline dies and it's sadly retiring, so if you love it as I do, grab it before it's gone. It's only $5.99 currently in the Last Chance section of the Whimsy store right now.

I used a cardstock for the base which had a really pretty shimmer to it. So in the right light, this card has lots of gentle sparkle. As mentioned above, I coloured up a few of the dragonfly offcuts with a blue tinted glitter brush too and glued them back in place with their wings in flight. This also added a little more subtle sparkle.

I finished the design by wrapping some May Arts Twine around several times and added a simple sympathy sentiment from Whimsy's Sympathy So Deeply Sorry Clear Stamps set, stamped in Green and clear heat embossed. I handcut the banner ends on the little tag and then attached the tag with a cute Tiny Clip from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology Range.

Whimsy's amazing 'LAST CHANCE' sale ends at the end of April, so not long to grab your favourites. There are oodles of fantastic stamp and die sets in this sale, even hot foil sets too! Well worth a look if you're a Whimsy fan like me! You can click through on the banner above, the discounts are really incredible and there are some truly wonderful sets in this sale! Let me know if you score something lovely! I've gone back several times for a stock up! Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo

(If you like any of the elements I've created with, I've added thumbnails to make your shopping easier. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever, though more importantly it helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)

This is really lovey Wends, it's awful to have to make a card for such a sad occasion, especially without a lot of time to think about it, you did a great job with this beautiful card.

A beautiful card for a very sad occasion - as you said, soft but with a gentle glimmer to lift it. That is a beautiful doe cut, and your blending is fabulous.
