Sweet Stampin' ~ Halloween Colours

Hey crafty friends, I'm popping in with a cute Halloween creation today in Halloween Colours for our latest challenge at Sweet Stampin'. I managed to do a little more colouring this week, which I thought was pretty perfect for today's challenge. I just adore this sweet fox from Lili of the Valley and really wanted to colour this cutie up before Halloween season is over! I'm still really time poor, this month has whizzed by, but I needed to do this 'for me' and took some time out from the fast pace. 

You may remember the cute pendant I created and shared earlier this week. This was in fact the paper I cut that scene from and I absolutely LOVE how this pendant turned out, but of course it left me with a sheet of paper that had a hole in it and it's such a gorgeous page, I knew I wanted to use it again. So I came up with a way to camouflage the hole in the paper.

This paper has the cutest spread of pumpkins on it, so I pulled out the Penny Black Pumpkin Parade Creative Die Set from my stash. I diecut these from Hammermill cardstock and coloured them up with my Copic Markers. I then layered them strategically over the hole to obscure it and built my scene around it. 

I also coloured up the sweet Lili of the Valley image with Copic Markers. I'm quite pleased with how this worked out, because I had fussy cut this image leaving a white border all the way around, so as not to lose the sweet extra details the artist added to the edges. I wasn't so sure about my choice when I sat this wee fox in the scene.

I didn't like the way the white fussy cut edge looked in this scene. So I used my Copic Markers to colour the white edges to match what was going on in the background. This ended up making this sweet image sit in the scene quite seamlessly. I love how it turned out. Not the wisest choice to put pumpkins behind this sweet fox, he is getting a wee bit lost granted, but I was otherwise very happy with this fix to obscure the hole in the paper and the 'seamless' coloured edges. Up close, he's quite visible, he just gets a bit lost in all the orange a bit further back.

I couldn't find a background paper that worked well for behind the patterned paper and the white cardstock just looked too stark, so I used some VersaFine Ink in Twilight to ink up the edges of the card base to create a lovely navy surround for the image panel. I think it worked a treat and just scissor distressed the edges of the image panel, for a bit of interest.
