Lili of the Valley ~ Sweet Flying Dragon
Hey crafty friends, I'm popping in today with a super cute make featuring the sweet Dragons and Unicorns stamp set from Lili of the Valley released in the New Year! This sweet stamp set is part of a bundle set available for a limited time, but is also available on its own.
I coloured up this cutie with my Copic Markers and went for earthy tones after first trying a green and purple combo, which I will share soon, but I absolutely LOVE this more earthy toned combo. I had bought a new Copic colour which I'd not had in my stash before and of course wanted to have a play with this new colour! I had two other toning pens from that blending family, so it was easy to bring these together in a lovely blend on this cute dragon.
I'll share the Copic blending combo with you in case you're curious. E09 is my new colour and I combined it with the rest of this colour family of E08, E07 and E04 to blend this cutie. I wanted to contrast the warm tones of the body of the Dragon with a cooler tone on the wings, so went for E49 for the darkest details, E47, E44 and E43. I used E44, E43 and E42 for a lighter touch on the horns. The spines and scales were a mix of these hues too.
The sentiment for this stamp set are smaller than I wanted to use for this design, so I chose a sentiment from a Quick Card Fronts set from Whimsy Stamps which happened to have a rather perfect sentiment in hue and wording. I rounded the corners of the black mat to match the die I used for the sentiment. I also used a rather fabulous coverplate die from Whimsy Stamps called Checkerboard Die to create the background. I wanted it to look like this wee dragon is flying past a castle wall and thought this die combined with a cool textured paper from Craft Consortium. It's a 6 x 6 Paper Pad called Metal Textures and I thought this would look cool as a Castle Wall type texture.
I encourage you to check out the sweet creations my Lili of the Valley team mates have made with this sweet January Release. You can see their designs shared in the We Love Lili of the Valley Facebook Group. If you're not signed up there and love LOTV images, do consider joining. It's a lovely group of crafters who enjoy sharing their Lili of the Valley themed creations. I will be back soon with another crafty adventure. In the meantime I wish you a fabulous and creative week. Happy January crafting! Hugs, Wends xoxo
(I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever. It helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own. If you use my Whimsy Stamps links and it's your first time shopping with my links, you'll be offered a 10% discount, which is a cool treat. So my links cost you nothing, but may also save you a few pennies. This is a 'one time' benefit, great if planning a bigger purchase.)
