Whimsy Wednesday ~ New Release Gorgeousness!

Hey there crafty pals, I'm here to share my Whimsy Wednesday post today. We've just had the July New Release go live on Monday and what a great line up it is this month!! Seriously, we have sooo many new digital images, we didn't have space to showcase them all! But I'll share my first creation with you today, which I used a very sweet Sylvia Zet image from the Flower Fairies Set to make. Gosh this was hard to photograph, because it's long and thin. Not my usual style of card, but this sweet fairy just wanted to be shown this way, hehe.

I had to chase the light around the garden for these shots. Some days are just like that. But I guess considering we are in the heart of Winter here in New Zealand, we're lucky to have light! Hehe. I've created a long thin card for my design with this sweet fairy. I just felt this would be fun with her sweet pose, to have her look like she was dropping flowers in the field below, like a magical Summer fairy. I fussy cut those tiny blooms below from the background paper and stuck them in amongst the hand-drawn greenery for a bit of dimension and interest. The background paper had such sweet ditsy little blooms on it and all the right colours for the colours I'd used in the colouring. I think the only colour missing was the purple I'd coloured the bouquet in. But the pink, gold and blues were well represented. I gave her a cloudless blue sky to fly in. Copic B00 and B000 for that. We've had some amazingly blue cloudless skies lately, which considering we're in the heart of Winter was rather reminding me of Summer! So that inspired this choice.

I popped the image panel up on Crafty Foam Tape, so that gave a bit more interest to the otherwise very simple design. I wrapped some pretty pink Baker's Twine around before adhering it to the base. The lovely sentiment is from a Whimsy Stamps clear stamp set called Distant Friends and I traced around the SMILES and MILES words with Wink of Stella for a bit of shine and sparkle. Impossible to capture on film, but very pretty in reality. I added gold Wink of Stella to the flower centres in her bouquet and in her hair and clear Wink of Stella to her pretty pink wings. I also dotted it in amongst the greenery below, so that it sparkled as the card was handled and moved. Little details which don't show well in static photos, but are such lovely touches on the real card.

We have a wonderful New Release this month, it's absolutely jam packed with gorgeous images. Some new to the Whimsy Stamps Digital Vault and some that you may recognise from our Rubber Stamps collection that have now joined the Digital Vault. So many wonderful possibilities with digital, I love using both!

So pop on into the store via the link above and check out our gorgeous new releases. I'll link them in thumbnails below too. Have a wonderful week and I'll see you again really soon with another crafty adventure. Hugs xoxo

Loved reading your post and your beautiful description of your process making this adorable card. She's such a sweetheart! I do love Sylvia Zet images! Fabulous placement of the image and such pretty flowers in her field below. Perfect background paper! Your twine breaks up your open space beautifully, and I think that choice was quite brave. I might have been too scared to disturb 'the story' I was telling. Fantastic! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at The Paper Shelter!
