Whimsy Stamps ~ Autumn Blessings

Hey lovely pals, I have a sweet Autumn creation to share with you today. I adore this beautiful stamp set from the DoveArt range at Whimsy Stamps by the hugely talented Jennifer Dove. It's a red rubber cling stamp which stamps so perfectly. All those little areas of shading are already added into the design, making colouring this a real joy. Such a simple yet beautiful portrayal of Autumn and all its beauty.

I love this image, so didn't want to take anything away from it, with an overly fussy design, but had some beautiful digital paper that I wanted to use with is, which comes from the Denise Lynn set called Vintage Pink Papers. There are some incredibly pretty digital papers in this set and if you'd like to see a few more creations using these, click here and here, which I've used on previous creations. I really need to use these papers more, they have the prettiest hues which can work with so many different themes and hues and I just LOVE how this paper works with this image.

This image just needed a simple frame which is sadly no longer in stock at Whimsy. I still find myself reaching for this frame lots. I love when stash is timeless and continues to be used. I'm always keen to buy 'classic' stash that will last beyond a couple of uses. This frame set has certainly been that for me and that simple but perfect touch of stitching at the corners is just what this make needed. I had a doily on my table at the time I was creating this, it was too small to span the image, but I cut it in half and just let the edges peek out the top and bottom. Such a little detail, but I love what it brings to this design.

The pics above were taken during my creating, so they're missing the finishes shown in the top pic. I hand stitched the edge just to give that final finishing touch. I used a thread I think of as 'denim stitch' cotton, it's that warm caramel colour you often see on jeans, which I thought worked well with the colours in this design. The final finishing touch was to add the sentiment. Autumn makes me think of the lovely American tradition of Thanksgiving. If there was a celebration I'd like to adopt, it would be that. Not for the history behind it, but for the attitude of gratitude. I've tried to teach my kiddos that living a life where you feel grateful for the good things, rather than a mindset of the world 'owing you', can bring you much greater joy in life. Not sure this has totally sunk in yet, but then aren't we all a work in progress?!

Thanks for popping in to visit today. If you're keen to see the latest digital release from Whimsy, you can click through on the banner above and if you're a Halloween fan, then so totally go check out all the amazing stash on offer for Halloween in the latest main release at Whimsy, it's amazing! As You Like It: Circles or Squares ~ Ooh I love them both, but honestly, I have loved making square cards from the very beginning of my crafting, much more than rectangular ones or round. This primarily was because I didn't have a good die-cutting machine to begin with and I could cut all the lines with my guillotine! But honestly, I love to craft on a square card base, even if my image is a different shape, it gives room around the image for embellishment or to show off pretty paper. Phew, long explanation, but you asked right?! xoxo
