Whimsy Stamps and Simon Says Stamp ~ Beautiful Wedding Card

Hey crafty friends, I'm popping in today to share a beautiful wedding card I made for a family member we love so very much. This was a second wedding and so the usual 'white wedding' themes, didn't seem right for this card. I was drawn to using the beautiful Magnolia Coverplate Die from Whimsy Stamps and happened to have bought some beautiful cardstock that had a shifting pearlescent colour combination, that I was just drawn to trying with this coverplate die.

The effect of this die cut from this beautiful Tonic Studios Purple Rain colour shifting Iridescent Mirror Cardstock is just so stunning in person and seeing the colour shift as the light moves across the card. Just stunning. I used a lovely pearlescent neutral cardstock for the base which has its own beautiful sheen, so made a lovely base for this really striking cardstock to sit upon. I chose to leave lots of open space and not try to fill the flower petals. I just loved how striking the diecut looked just as it was.

I did decide to add some embellishment to the flowers, by adding a little cluster of seed beads to the centre of the main big magnolias. It's such a tiny detail, but I really love what this added to this card. I diecut the lovely sentiment from Simon Says Stamp, from the same specialty cardstock and the matt for the sentiment from vellum.

The cardstock after I glued it puckered a little, so I ended up adding another layer of the specialty cardstock on top which gave a much nicer flat and finished look. I had stacked two white layers below the first specialty cardstock layer, so it just added another layer on top and finished the card in a much nicer way. I had been so disappointed when lifting the acrylic block off the sentiment I was using to weight it down while the glue dried and seeing the puckered look! I left it overnight and then came back the next morning and diecut another layer and added it over the puckered one. Which worked quite well. The two images above were taken before I added the last layer on top. The image below captures a little of the iridescence of this lovely Tonic Studios Purple Rain cardstock.

Thank you for popping in today and checking out my latest crafty adventure. This lovely coverplate die was recenlty part of the Whimsy Stamps Sale and at quite a deep discount, and I just checked to see if it was still in stock. But it is sadly now sold out. If you like it, be sure to check Whimsy stockists locally, who may still have stock. I've used this lovely die several times and you can see my other creations here, here, here and here. It's fair to say, I haven't exhausted all the ways this die can be used too! I've still lots of ideas! I will be back again soon with another crafty adventure and in the meantime, I wish you a beautiful and creative week. Hugs, Wends xoxo

I do use affiliate links where possible and occasionally am paid a small commission. I do not earn affiliate sales from my Whimsy links. This is just for tracking data. It helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
