Whimsy Stamps ~ Cornfield Scarecrow
I'm getting a little braver with my Halloween subjects this year! I've really been moving outside of my usual comfort zone, but rest assured, I still can't bring myself to face a Pennywise image! Hehe. Not sure that'll ever happen! But I've definitely tried to capture a spookier vibe with this Cornfield Scarecrow!
I wanted to make this panel a bit different from an earlier make I used similar techniques to create. I wanted it to have a different look and feel to this one. I decided to make a peek-a-boo design. So I've adhered the finished image panel on the inside of the card and diecut the aperture with a cool die from the Savior Die Set from Whimsy Stamps.
I chose a Halloween sentiment from the new Bitty Borders Stamp Set and heat embossed it with Liquid Platinum embossing powder from Ranger Ink. It's a lovely metallic embossing powder, that is neither silver nor gold, but somewhere between the two and I thought was a great fit for this card.
I used another of the Bitty Borders to finish the front of the card design. When I spotted this little fence, it occurred to me this would be a fun way to finish this front page and I love how it looks! I used the Liquid Platinum embossing powder for this element too. I've actually used VersaFine Nocturne Ink to stamp the elements and then added the embossing powder. The embossing powder is so opaque, it covers the black completely.
This is such an interesting window shape, it reminds me of little hedgerow windows we saw travelling the B roads when we were in England. I thought it would make a really fun peek-a-boo window design. I first thought to add acetate to the window, but decided against it, as I didn't want to have the shine over the image panel, I felt it was creepier without.
The beautiful heavyweight cardstock I've used for this creation is from Whimsy's lovely sponsors for September and October, Cardstock Warehouse. This is such a lovely cardstock, it's the Onyx cardstock from their Stardream range. It was a perfect weight to stand up to this peek-a-boo design.
The best news about this gorgeous paper pack that we've been working with, is that we also have a fantastic prize that will be won by a random entrant in our last event of October, so watch that space for a chance to win! There will be more than one prize up for grabs, so definitely worth coming to join the fun in our Facebook Group where all the information will be shared ahead of the event.
Whimsy Stamps has had two releases so far this month, both very Halloween themed and there is another one about to go live on the 20th and it's fabulous! So watch for that! If you're a Halloween fan, click through on the banner below to check out all of Whimsy's recent Halloween releases.
Thanks for popping in to visit today. I'd love to know what you think of this peek-a-boo design. I'll be back again soon with another crafty adventure until then, I wish you a magical week. Hugs, Wends xoxo
(I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, and so appreciate if you use these when shopping. They cost you no extra whatsoever. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)

As You Like It: Favourite Die and Why? I've used a very cool aperture die on this make, that I think is fabulous for this sort of design. It's not my favourite die ever, but it's a favourite for this type of technique!
Simon Says Monday Challenge: Add Some Metal ~ I've used Gold Metallic Ink to stamp the gold cornrows, Mica Spray Stains and Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder. The cardstock I've used also has a metallic sheen to it.
