Whimsy Stamps ~ Flip Flap Fun Fold Halloween Card

Happy Spooktember crafty friends! It's getting real now if you're a Halloween fan, which you all know by now I am! I'm so enjoying crafting for this Halloween! I absolutely love creating for Halloween, there's a freedom in the designing that I don't feel any other time of the year. I get to be so free with my creative expression and I've had some really fun adventures so far with different ideas and ways of creating. Did you spot the post I shared where I used the waste paper lining my splat box for an inky play?! You can check that out here. But today, I'm sharing a kinetic card with you. I had the idea to create a fun interactive card for Halloween and this particular design kept popping up when I was planning. It'll be best to view it over on the video, as you'll be able to see the interactive kinetic element in action, but here are the stills.

I had such fun with several beautiful paper sets from Whimsy Stamps creating the panels for this cool interactive Flip Flop Fun Fold Card. There is a really cool ratchet action as you pull on the tab to open the design and it's unexpected and oh so fun! This first panel features the beautiful Haunted Houses Paper Pack on the main panel, which continues on the base panel to give a sense of flow and continuity to the front page. You just get a peek of the next paper where the pull tab is. Those sweet bats flying across the moon, are not part of the paper design, but stamped on from the Bramble Wreath Stamp Set.

This panel shows the first section you see as you pull down and sets the scene that this will be a 'bat' themed creation. I've used a page from the BOOkeh Paper Pack and bats from the Batty Die Set. Whimsy sets often work so well together, as you can see the bats I stamped on that first panel match nicely with the Batty Die Set.

One extra pull and you can see the full reveal of the lovely Pink Autumn Paper which has been peeking through from the beginning with the bat pull from the Batty Die Set. This paper is divine, one of my favourites from Whimsy Stamps. The paper above is on the reverse side of the BOOkeh Paper panel and this paper comes from the Rainbow Paper Pack. The sentiment stamped on that is from the Something Wicked Stamp Set. I wanted to complete the phrase, so it reads "Just A Little Batty Halloween Fun", so I took the word 'Halloween' from the Dracula I Compel You Stamp Set and I made the word 'FUN' from the Fun With Words 1 Die Set. The little 'pull' word comes from a cool set called Halloween Postage Clear Stamp Set that has lots of little interactive words on it. All the sets I mention will be linked in thumbnails below for quick and easy reference.

The final panel is the back page where you can write a message for the recipient. I didn't want to leave this as a white page, which I often do when I line my cards, as the rest of the design was so well decorated. So it felt too plain that way. I decided to pull in this fun Bubbly Die which I cut from Simon Says Stamp Glossy Black Cardstock, so lots of shine. I wanted to add a little interest to the bubbles in the design, so I pulled out my Scrapbook.com Glitter Brush Markers in Blue, Pink, Yellow and Clear to add some interest to the bubbles. Here is a two part pic of that process. It's much easier to see the sparkle in these pics I snapped during the process.

I had such fun creating this kinetic card and I hope you've enjoyed seeing the step through my process, I have a short video that shares the details of this creation and shows the kinetic aspect in action. I'll embed it below if you're curious to see it in action. Let me know if you choose to make one too. I will have a second video which I will share the details of the kinetic components, which I will release shortly and add to this post once I have.

I'll be back again soon with another fun Halloween adventure. I can't wait to share what I've been up to and in the meantime, check out this amazing New Release from Whimsy Stamps which went live on the 1st of September. It's amazing and I'm super excited to start playing with some of these fun new elements very soon.

Thanks for popping in to visit today friends, I'd love to visit you too, so be sure to leave me a message so I know you've been. Wishing you a magical week, Wends xoxo

(I share thumbnails to the elements I design with in order to make your search for them easier, in case you like something I've used. I do use affiliate links where possible, although my affiliate links are not currently working due to changes in the affiliate platforms. So these links are purely to help you find elements you may also enjoy crafting with. I am proud to design for the companies I do and always feel happy to share where my inspiration and where my crafty stash comes from. I am occasionally gifted products to use, but I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
