Spellbinders ~ Cool Pool Themed Birthday Card
Hey crafty friends, I'm busy prepping some treats for my kiddo who is turning 21 very soon and I pulled out this fabulous Spellbinders Stitched Alphabet Set to create with and was reminded I'd yet to share this fun card I made for one of my youngest's friends, when they turned 13. Not sure why I've not got around to sharing this card, but it's a fun one and was themed after the birthday party event he had.
The kids had such fun at a pool hall for the party. I used the Spellbinders Stitched Alphabet Die Set to create the letters on this card but I swapped out the 'O' from Oscar's name and replaced it with a pool ball with the age he was turning in the centre. I used the base layer of the 'O' from the Spellbinders Alphabet die, cut a second one from orange cardstock and hand trimmed the sides to create the cutaways to turn the 'O' into a number 13 pool ball. The number 13 ball in pool is orange, so I used orange as the accent colour. The rest of the letters in his name, I alternated between a blue base and white letter and a white base and blue letter, just for a bit of added interest. I really love how this turned out.
I didn't have a small number die at the time, so added the 13 by hand to the pool ball element, I so wish I'd had a die for this, as it's not perfect, but handmade right?! I used lovely shimmery cardstock for the white elements on this card, which show a little bit in the pic above. You can see the shimmer in the Mica Sprays I used for card base as the light catches the reflective elements.
I didn't have a die for the pool cue, so I just trimmed some papers into what I thought was a fun pool cue design. I used some Lawn Fawn Brown Woodgrain Cardstock for the top end of the cue and added some paper stripes, to create a bit of interest. The tail end of the cue which you can seen in the pic above this one, I finished with a tiny bit of white paper, to emulate the end of the cut and coloured the very end blue to depict the felt tip where the chalk gets added. I just love how this turned out and was such a fun personalised card for my son's friend.
I'd love to know what you think of this pool themed birthday card. I had such fun creating it and was so pleased with how it turned out, that I've made a few more cards with this Stitched Alphabet Die Set since, so I'll share those soon. Until then, I wish you a wonderful and creative week. Hugs, Wends xoxo
