Whimsy Stamps ~ Mixed Media Birthday Tags

Hey crafty friends, I'm popping in today with a fun Mixed Media Tag Set that I've made as 21st Birthday Tags. There'll be lots of present wrapping going on these next few days, so I needed some pretty tags to add to the parcels. Not everyday your first born turns 21!

I love how these tags turned out. I started this inky adventure off with a bit of ink smooshing on my Ranger Non-stick Craft Sheet. It works well for many mixed media tasks, so it's usually my go to for messy play.

The inky panels I show above are from some panels I did with exactly the same inks and process as the tags, I just forgot to take progress pics of the tags! I love how the smaller footprint of the Mini Oxide Inks means you can tuck several hues in close together when ink smooshing. Much harder with the big ink pads, so I really enjoyed using them for this part of the process.

Here are my Ranger Ink tags after being ink smooshed. I used did several layers of ink smooshing, drying between and layering again until I liked the layers. Then it was time to add a little stamping. I dried the panels well before adding the stamped layers.

I used Worn Lipstick to add the brick wall elements. For this stamping, I just held the stamp in my hand and rolled on and off areas I wanted to add some extra detail. I wasn't looking for full or solid coverage.

I switched to Aged Mahogany Distres Oxide to add the two hearts and used a small acrylic block to do this stamping. I wanted to add some extra colour and build some depth in the layers. I used both the hearts from the stamp set, the solid and open heart. I stamped them randomly, so no two tags were the same.

The final stamp from the Mixed Media Bits Stamp Set was the 'xoxo' stamp. I have a habit of adding this 'signature' to all my messages. I like the idea of sending love and hugs, so this feels very 'me' to use this stamp as a central element. I did go on to add some sentiments and used my MISTI to do this to ensure good coverage. These sentiments are from the lovely Panda Clear Stamp Set by DoveArt Designs for Whimsy Stamps. I think they finish the tags perfectly and captured what I wanted the tags to convey.

I finished off the tags with a little May Arts Black Twine and some lovely shimmery pale pink organza ribbon. The perfect touch I think to complete these lovely tags. I didn't have enough for the birthday parcels, so I'll be sharing a second set I made very soon. Same idea, slightly different hues.

Thank you for popping in to see my crafty adventure. I'll be back again soon with another one, but have several really busy days lined up celebrating my kiddos 21st, so will check back in after all that fun. Until then, have a wonderful week. Hugs, Wends xoxo
