Whimsy Stamps ~ The Pig is Patient

Hey crafty friends, I'm popping in with a cute make today featuring the adorable Furry Critters Stamp Set released by Whimsy Stamps back in January. Such a cute set and if I'd been in my craft room that month, I'd so have made this for my hubby for our Wedding Anniversary. We celebrated being married 32 years this year. I wasn't on social media much in January, I really needed a creative break, so didn't share anything at the time, but I've been wanting to colour up this cute image with hubby in mind, since it was released. It's so cute and perfect for 'us'.

We have a running joke in our family related to Chinese Horoscopes. They say that the Rooster and Pig are not well suited (hubby and I are these signs, I am the Year of the Pig) the horoscope goes on to say, that it 'can' work, because the 'pig is patient'. Which if you know our temperaments, is where the joke comes in! So this cute couple made me giggle and I had to colour them up. It could only have been better for us if it was a rooster and pig! Hehe.

I had great fun creating a splashy 'pigs in muck' scene for them, because we two are happy souls in our creative messes! My hubby is a musician, so doesn't bat an eye to my creative messes. As a creative soul, he understands the process and journey! I used two fabulous stencil sets to create this fun splashy scene. I used the It's Cloudy 6x9 Stencil to create the cloudscape with blue distress oxide inks and inked the bottom of the card with some brown distress inks. I added the splashy puddle with a cute stencil called Puddles from Whimsy, to create this fabulous and rather perfect splash beneath them.

I adore the new Field of Butterflies Die Set which is awesome for creating die cut scenes. After I used the cool stencils to create the ink blended scene I then added the vellum butterflies. I've used a shimmery vellum for this and in good light, they do shimmer so nicely.

I've also used the fabulous Terrific Tickets Add-Ons Die Set to create the cute popped up frame they're featured in. It was a perfect size to pop and create a feature of that area. The lovely sentiment I added to complete the design is from Whimsy's Everyday Mini Sentiments Stamp Set. I thought about using the Happy Anniversary, but as it was made after our anniversary this year, I opted for the Live, Laugh, Love sentiment. Which made me giggle, because we'd just watched an episode of Resident Alien which had a kitsch wall plaque with this saying on it and the poor hubby who loved it was slammed by his wife with slightly more refined taste for his choice. I think the saying is lovely, but I'd likely skip that wall art too!

We've just had a fun release at Whimsy with some very beautiful stamp and die sets in it. I'm hoping to get my hands on those beautiful Easter Quick Card Fronts soon. So very beautiful for Easter. Hope your March is going well. I've been enjoying some early birthday celebrating with friends and family, I had such a lovely 'High Tea' celebration with one of my Playcentre besties over the weekend. We have bookend March birthdays, so chose a weekend in the middle to have a joint celebration and it was so lovely. I'm still hunting down the elusive mojo, but trying to catch up a few posts now, so there'll be more from me very soon. Hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo
