Sweet Stampin' ~ Birthday Boys
Hey sweet friends, I'm here to share an 'extra' card this week. Team Susan are having a 'Birthday Boys' challenge and I really wanted to share this card I made a little while ago for the eldest of our dear friends who live nearby. We gather every week to share a meal together. It's a special bond our families have and it goes way back to England! So of course you know I had to do something a lil' special for him. He's Batman crazy, which presents a dilemma, 'where to authentically get an image I can use'?! Enter Deviant Art, a collective of artists sharing their work for comment and constructive criticism and often for free use following some T's and C's. There is a lot of 'fan-art' shared there. Creations can't be sold of course, as this goes against the original artists copyright, but given as a handmade item, not for profit, I believe is okay. I can no longer find the link to this artist to give him credit, but if anyone recognises the work, let me know so I can update these details.
I used some fantastic 'Comic/Pop-Art' paper from the talented Marcela Coco to create this card. I found her through Pixel Scrapper. I can't seem to find her on the site anymore sadly, but there are loads of other gorgeous papers on Pixel Scrapper. I created an Easel Card, using one of the Pop-Art elements to anchor the card open. I coloured the image with Copic Markers, fussy cut it and then popped it up on foam, so that it sat out from the design a little, to give the sense that Batman was standing on a Gargoyle overlooking the city from a height. I really love how this came together and it went down a treat too!
I hope you'll come and join us this week for our 'Birthday Boys' challenge. There's loads of scope to create and we can't wait to see what your interpretation of the theme will be!
I'll be back again very soon with another crafty adventure. I wish you a restful weekend and wonderful week ahead. Hugs, Wends xoxo
