Whimsy Wonderland
Hi crafty pals, tonight, I want to share a couple of creations I made over the last week or so, but haven't had time to blog. I shared this first cutie as part of our 'Love For Australia' showcase that the Whimsy Divas did last week. This adorable koala really is so cute and was such a joy to colour. I had a go at giving his fur a little texture using my Copic Markers. We have Eucalyptus trees here in Auckland, they're often called 'Paper Bark', as the bark comes away in big strips. The underlying bark is very pale, so I tried to depict this in my colouring on the trunk. The leaves are also a minty almost turquoise green, so I used those shades to colour the leaves and chose the paper frame to match.
I used the Card Builder Windows Die Set to create the stitched aperture frame. I then added the coloured image and foliage over a lovely pale green cloudy sky paper. I found in my stash this wonderful sentiment which had such a lovely and I think quite perfect sentiment for this creation, which reads "Start Each Day With A Grateful Heart". It felt rather poignant with all that Australia has gone through lately as a nation. I'm mindful very much, to be grateful for all the good in our lives. This set is for sale only for a limited time and the proceeds from this beautiful stamp set are being sent to WIRES ~ Emergency Fund for Wildlife.
Staying with a wildlife theme, I couldn't resist colouring up this 'Well Rounded Elephant' by Crissy Armstrong from our February Digital Release at Whimsy Stamps. I feel a certain affinity with this adorable ellie! I really wanted to surround her with a sunset sky, I'm not sure I got the colours quite right, but I'm happy for a first try. I thought the muted greens were a nice base for this creation and had that sienna coloured circle from a previous make that I'd not used it on, still sitting on my desk. I tried to hint at a setting sun with that. I finished with a decorative paper strip from the same set as the base paper, a sentiment circle and some cotton lace. I roughed up the edges of the base paper before adding it to the card base. I love a bit of paper distressing!
We've had a gorgeous new release in February and not long enough to share it all with it being a short month! Good thing we get an extra day! Hehe. Be sure to click the banner above to check out the New Release in store. I'll be back again very soon with another crafty adventure. I'm also hosting the blog post over on the Whimsy Inspiration Blog later today and my lovely teamie Hester is sharing a wonderful Kinetic Card Tutorial with us, so be sure to head over there and check that out! Hugs and happy crafting xoxo
