Whimsy Stamps ~ My New Favourite Word Die!

Hey friends, I'm back again with another creation featuring this fabulous word die 'Believe' from Whimsy Stamps. I knew I was going to get lots of use out of this towards the end of the year, but honestly I cannot get enough of this fabulous word die, it is just so lovely for the holiday season and can be interpreted several different ways, which I think makes it extra versatile for holiday crafting.

I am still doing the Online Card Classes, Holiday Card Workshop, the second week starts tomorrow and I'm still working on my 'homework' from last week, it's so inspiring! I love that these classes are about techniques and allow you to use your own stash, which is great for me, because classes which include stash bundles are usually prohibitively expensive to have shipped to New Zealand, so it's really nice how accessible this is! Even better still for me, I get to use my favourite stash, which you know of course you're going to see lots of Whimsy! I've shown the card above in lamplight, which shows the lovely sheen and shine of the embossing and glitter cardstock. The image below, I took in natural light, which better shows the true cardstock colour. Amazing how much lighting can affect things! This shot below was taken before I added the amber gems too. They're such a lovely finish for this card. These are from This Calls For Confetti.

This card class was all about blending and I've made two cards, I'll share the second one later, once I've had a chance to finish embellishing it. They're really different, but used similar elements and I love them both! This card was heavily influenced by a card Kristina Werner shared some time back, where she ink blended the edges of a deep burgundy red cardstock with brown ink. You can see that video here and another similar blending approach here. I've been wanting to try it ever since and remembered it when I was watching the tutorial for this class, so took this opportunity to give it a go. (I am a 'slow burn' kinda gal, with crafty ideas, I'll sit on them quite a while before trying, often because I'm perpetually tired and it's easier to stick to what I know, but also often, because I'm daunted by new techniques. But this class really encouraged me to try out some of these ideas.)

I love watching Kristina craft and I follow her Youtube channel, so it is a real treat to be doing a class led by her and another of my favourite 'guru' crafters Jennifer McGuire. If you've not checked out Jennifer's Youtube channel, I encourage you do to so, she is always full of the most helpful and accessible crafting tips!

I used a really pretty copper embossing powder that I've had a very long time to create this card and decided after finishing the panel, that mounting it on a plain cardstock just wasn't going to cut it! So I pulled out my Versamark Ink pad, ran it liberally along the edge of my kraft card base and then heat embossed some of the copper embossing powder on it, to give the edge of the card a really lovely opulent copper edge. Who would ever know there was a humble kraft card below?! Hehe, a bit of surprise for the recipient when they open it, but I'll line it with white paper for writing a message on. The lovely copper glitter cardstock I used to cut the snowflakes and Believe Word Die from I bought a long time back from Simon Says Stamp and was part of a mixed metallics glitter 6x6 pack.

All the elements of this card are from Whimsy Stamps and I'll link the thumbnails below for easy reference. I'm not sure if you guys find that useful or not, but I always find it helpful when I'm looking back on past makes and want to reference something. So it's as much for me, as for you, hehe. Be sure to check out Online Card Classes, if you think you might be interested in doing some Holiday Card crafting too. Sending you all a big hug and wishing you happy crafty days xoxo
