Whimsy Stamps ~ Oh Christmas Tree

Hey friends, I've another Online Card Classes inspired creation to share with you today. I've used my Whimsy Stash again for this one and really love how it came out. This card class was taught by Kristina Werner and if you follow her, you'll know she's the watercolouring guru extraordinaire. I love doing her classes and watching her YouTube Tutorials. I always learn something new. You may also associate her with Distress Ink Blending combinations and this class touched on that. Kristina ink blended several small backgrounds and then cleverly crafted them into triangle shaped Christmas trees. I wanted to use a lovely tree die set I have from Whimsy, it was on my desk to do some Christmas creating, so I thought this might work well.

I ink blended a full page panel, rather than little ones as Kristina did, because if I'm getting my inks out, I want to have plenty of canvas to play with! So I chose some yellow green inks for the lower part of the panel and some bluer green inks for the top part. The trees for this creation, I've cut from the yellowy greens section. I ink blended a background onto a Neenah Solar White slimline card panel using Shabby Shutters Distress Oxide, splattered this with water, Hero Arts Iridescent Shimmer Spray in White and Tim Holtz Distress Mica Stain in Wicked Elixir from the Fourth Halloween set. That combination added such a pretty shimmer to the background.

If you know me well, you'll understand why this image makes me happy, look at all those gorgeous greens! I ran out of round foam tools, so used an oblong one, so I didn't need to keep switching my handles, it just makes the blending faster and smoother. To my surprise, it worked surprisingly well! I also generously ink splattered the ink blended background for a bit of interest and sparkle. I diecut the trees from the yellowy green end of the blend and then added them to the decorated card panel. I popped up the centre one on foam, for a bit of added interest and dimension. I heat set the sentiment, which is from a lovely Whimsy Stamps clear stamp set called Elegant Ornaments, in silver embossing powder and finished the card with a scattering of green toned gems.

I have so enjoyed the Online Card Classes and today is the big wrap up day, so last chance to add makes to their student gallery. This week has whizzed by and I've not had time to do all the creating inspired by these classes that I wanted to do, but I'm happy with the ones I did get made and I know I'll use some of the techniques in future makes. A great couple of weeks of crafty inspiration! Thanks for popping in to visit today and for leaving me lovely comments on my previous cards from these classes, I always love knowing what you think! Sending you all a big hug and wishing you happy crafty days xoxo
