Whimsy Stamps ~ Christmas Card Round-up

Hey crafty pals, I made more cards in December than I had time to share and such busy days in the lead up, so I'm sharing a few creations that didn't get shared before Christmas. I actually love crafting for Christmas just afterwards, as I'm so in the Christmas spirit, but these were in fact crafted and sent for Christmas, I just think one of those mischievous elves hit the fast forward button on me around mid December! So I'll share each card and a round up of elements I used in thumbnails at the end of the post.

I created this slimline card with a gorgeous slimline background stamp from Whimsy that has a fabulous Nordic design. I had to have this gorgeous background the moment it was released! I ran out of Christmas last year too, to share my ideas, but started making a few of these cards in different colours. Here is the red one I created, my favourite for the obvious Scandinavian influence.

I teamed the gorgeous Nordic background stamp with a lovely stamp set called elegant ornaments. The sentiment I stamped in black versafine ink and then heat embossed in clear embossing powder to add a little shine. I stamped the ornaments in Lumberjack Plaid, let them dry then stamped over them with Versamark Ink and clear heat embossed them. I then added some sparkle glitter pen accents here and there to finish the design.

This ink blended panel I absolutely loved creating, but it doesn't photograph well, it's too soft and pastel to capture the true tones. So I made a darker richer version at the same time and shared that back when I created it. But I kept this panel to work with later and combined it with a pretty snowflake border die from Whimsy, some clear gems and added a sentiment which I stamped in a plain ink and then overlaid with vellum in a sparkly ink from Brutus Monroe called Frost Bite. The background for this panel was stamped in Versamark Ink and I used Ranger White Embossing Powder in a warm white for this background.

I cut the pretty snowflake border from glitter foam and added the clear gems over the middles of the snowflakes for interest. I popped up the sentiment frame slightly, which I diecut using one of the pretty frame dies from the Antique ATC Frames Die Set. It's a great set for adding pretty frame details. I needed the shape a little wider than the smaller frames, so I diecut one of the larger ones which was the right width, but did a partial diecut and brought the base up, so it was shorter. Worked a treat.

The sentiment really does look so sparkly and pretty in the right light which the image above captures much better. I used the same sentiment stamp for this card as I did for the Nordic themed card which is from the stamp set Elegant Ornaments by Whimsy Stamps. I added a few smaller snowflakes around the sentiment, which as they were cut from foam, moulded quite nicely to the different levels they were adhered to, as the sentiment panel was popped up on foam. I had these clear gems in my stash (actually from my kids crafty days, so they're much larger than I would normally use, but suited the different sizes of snowflake centres quite well and added a lovely touch of sparkle.

My final creation to share today, I made from a lovely shimmery top-folding green cardstock base, which I diecut in the centre with a large snowy tree die from Whimsy. I then added a cardstock panel behind, which had been layered with alternating patterned green Washi Tapes. I popped up two smaller trees which were diecut from a larger Washi Tape panel and popped those up on foam either side of the large main tree. I added a nice bright white sentiment from the Christmas Postcard Clear Stamp Set in Alabaster Embossing Powder from Brutus Monroe and finished with a couple of vellum snowflakes with gems in their centres. A simple and yet quite striking card and another one which used some of my massive Washi stash! So I was very happy with that. I've had such fun playing with different Washi Tape ideas in the lead up to Christmas and I'm inspired to try to incorporate more Washi Tape in my makes this coming year.

Thanks for popping in to visit my blog. I love that there are still some crafty pals out there who enjoy the blogging world. It seems to be going the way of the dinosaur, but I really enjoy sharing the story of my crafty adventures this way and no other platform quite meets the freedom a blog allows. So thank you, with all my heart, for still popping in to visit occasionally. I am excited to see what 2023 holds for my crafting. Perhaps some braver adventures, trying new things. I've definitely found my comfort zone in crafting and I think I ought to take more risks and try new things, so we'll see what happens. But for now, I wish you a beautiful New Year, however you celebrate it. Hugs, Wends xoxo

Wendy these are beautiful cards - love them all, but my favourite is definitely the tree card with the gorgeous washi tape elements.
