Whimsy Stamps ~ Christmas Cup of Joe

Happy New Year my crafty friends! I gave this blog post the title I did after a lovely Christmas song that was recently released by one of our dearest friends Geoff Duncan. You can have a listen to it on Spotify here, I've been listening to it loads since it was released, it's lovely. This creation was inspired by another friend, one of my crafty friends and her love for holiday themed mugs. I’m way too late to be sending it for Christmas, but honestly, there’s never a bad time to receive a handmade card and to know someone is thinking of you. I wanted to capture the shine of this card, which isn’t well captured in stills. So I shared this over on Instagram as a Reel

I used Whimsy’s fabulous Toner Card Front Pack - Slimline Celebrations 1 to create the fun candy stripe red foiled mug and ‘Sweet’ word. I love how these turned out and they made a really fun basis for this card. I stencilled the background with Festive Berries through Whimsy's Pinwheel Stencil. Whimsy is retiring some of their range to make room for new product and this stencil is in their Last Chance section right now, so if you like it, nab it while you still can!

I diecut the adorable penguin from Whimsy's Penguin Pals Die Set out of white cardstock and coloured him with Copic Markers, giving him little pink cheeks to finish. The shot above is straight on, so the shine on the foil doesn't show, but when it shifts in the light, the flashes of red on the foiled areas are lovely! I added a soft bit of colour on the shadow layer of the Sweet word as the white looked too stark. I lightly brushed over it with what remained on my red blending brush after doing the stencilling, leaving a soft dusting of pink. I stamped the sentiment in Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide Ink from the Christmas Critter Wishes Clear Stamp set.

My lovely crafty friend that this card is destined will soon celebrate her birthday too, so I'm late for Christmas and her birthday, but I hope regardless of this, it'll bring a smile to her face when she gets it. I'll be back soon with another crafty adventure, until then, I hope you've had a wonderful restful Christmas and are looking forward to what 2024 has to offer. I for one would like it to be an easier year than 2023, so finger's crossed it will be!

(I've added thumbnails to make your shopping easier if you like any of the elements I've created with. I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever, though more importantly it helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)

Such a pretty card Wends - I did pop over to IG, and that shimmer is amazing.
May 2024 bring you all you may require, with less "character building" along the way :)
Blessings
