Spellbinders ~ Celebrate
Hey friends, I am back today with another creation using the lovely Spellbinders Stash that Yana sent me. She's very much on my mind right now with all that's going on in the Ukraine, do visit her site if you'd like to help. I still have so many ideas for this lovely stash and got a little benched while I was recovering. But I was reminded to share this card, as I made it for my Aunty's 80th birthday and am sending it up North with my Mum tomorrow for hand delivery.
I adore this rich green, if you know me, you'll know green is my favourite colour, these deeper shades of green in particular. I had fun dry embossing and then spritzing the background to get a slightly distressed finish. I used the same trick I did with the previous label makes I've shared and cut this round doily into an oval one to better suit the frame shape. Simple trick, but really brings nice balance. I added Tea Dye Distress Ink to this doily before adding it to the card. I chose muted tones for the rest of the elements, to work with but not detract from the gorgeous green elements.
I had a lovely 'celebrate' die from Spellbinders, which was an exclusive collaboration between Spellbinders and Scrapbook.com. Sadly not available any longer. I had the idea to replace the smaller 'C' from that diecut with a larger one from the Spellbinders Stitched Alphabet Collection. I didn't want to add stitching but did want to draw attention to the lovely detail, so sprinkled some toning green glitter into those areas giving a soft sparkle. I double layered the sentiment in green and champagne cardstock.
The lovely embossing folder I used for this creation is called 'Floral' and it comes as a smaller 5.5 x 4.25 inch embossing folder, perfect for an A2 card front. I then used the pretty shaped frame from the Spellbinders Flourished Fretwork Collection 'Fluted Tracery' to diecut the lovely card shape. I wanted the card base to match this shape, so hand cut the outer card base to work with it, being sure to leave a small uncut hinge on the left hand side. The lovely butterfly or moth as I believe it actually is, was cut from a mix of the cardstocks I used and finished with the lovely toning green gems from Spellbinders that perfectly match this beautiful green paper. They're called 'Fashion Spruce'. I also added a little loose glitter to the moth's body for subtle shine. Final touch was to add a larger pearl from the 'Fashion Spruce' pearls set to the top right hand corner.
I used a mix of little flowers from the Seasonal Label Motifs - Summer and Spring sets. I used foliage from both these sets too and added two sparkly gems from my stash to two of the wee flowers for interest and embellished the centre of the third flower with one of the lovely Opal gems from Spellbinders. Some of the leaves I left in plain green cardstock, some I cut from the ink splattered cardstock. I like the subtle contrast between them. As I mentioned above, I've sent this to one of my lovely Aunts who has just turned 80, so before giving it, I did add a little diecut '80' in the bottom right corner, but didn't snap a shot of this sadly. I am so happy with this card, it has just so many elements I love in it. I'd love to know what you think.
