Sweet Stampin' ~ Anything But A Birthday Card
Hey crafty pals, I'm popping in today with my 'Anything But A Birthday Card' creation, for our latest challenge at Sweet Stampin'. I have been so looking forward to sharing this fun card. It was a commission from my brother who was attending the wedding of two of his close friends in Germany earlier this year. It's was a very special occasion and he was delighted with the card I designed to celebrate that special day.
As soon as my brother asked me to design a card for this occasion, I immediately thought of the wonderful image Mo Manning created for just such an occasion. I coloured the image up with Copic Markers in a mix of warm and cool grey tones. These two grooms shoes were perfect for this card, but I wanted to take it a step further and add a little rainbow in there, but in a tasteful way. So I ink blended a rainbow panel background with oxide inks and cut the frame with a fun square border die I bought some time back from the Swedish design company Gummiapan. I really like the fun edge on this 'old paper' die. I used a plain stitched die for the actual image panel, so as not to detract from the inked background and mounted it all with foam layers on a heavy weight cardstock with a beautiful pearlescent shimmery finish, giving it an elegant and clean design.
Sweet Stampin' is a 'Just For Fun' challenge and we feature our 'Top Picks' from each challenge every other week. So I hope you'll come and play along with your 'Anything But A Birthday Card' creations. We'd love to see what you're inspired to do. Please do stop in to the challenge to check out my amazing teamies creations too, they're a wonderfully talented team! I'll be back soon with another crafty adventure. Big hugs, Wends xoxo
