Spellbinders ~ Noël
Hey crafty pals, I'm back today with a card I've made using a spotlight ink technique that was shown in the Online Card Classes I've just done. It was the last day today and I've still a bit of homework to finish, this card was inspired by tutorials on Day 7 taught by the lovely Koren Wiskman, showing a combination of ink blending and dry embossing. I absolutely love this technique and will definitely be trying this again with some different embossing folders. The folder I've used for this card, is the lovely Forevergreen Embossing Folder from Spellbinders. I did the spotlight ink blending using Distress Oxide inks in Evergreen Bough and Pine Needles. I let the ink dry and then ran the panel through the lovely Forevergreen Embossing Folder.
I pulled out some more of my Spellbinders stash to create this card and I really like how it all worked together. The lovely paper is from Spellbinders Santa Lane Paper Pad. I used it to trim the card edge and for the sentiment. I cut a layer from white foam using the Be Bold Uppercase Alphabet dies and then cut two layers from the plaid paper and layered those up over the foam. I adhered the letters to a strip of vellum that I cut to run across the width of the decorative panel. The vellum was glued down only under the NOËL letters. I've not thought of a way to add the umlaut over the 'E', but may come back and add those later, as this really identifies that word as the French word for Christmas.
The beautiful stamp set I've used is also from Spellbinders and is called Three Kings. It includes the Biblical Three Kings from the Orient, but also the lovely depiction of Bethlehem and the Bethlehem Star. I used the latter two stamps to create my scene, silver embossing these on vellum and fussy cutting them to add to the card. I finished the card with 3 Stargazer Gems from Pinkfresh Studio. The decorative panel was popped up on foam, before adding to the plaid paper base, for a bit of dimension and interest.
I really like the layout of this design, but decided to play with a slightly different embellishment finish, so this is my 'Take 2' on this card. Which version do you prefer? I rather love the silver matt pearls on this second version, I think they tied in the silver better from the embossing and just think they look really elegant. So these are my two versions.
Spellbinders has a fabulous sale on right now, you can click through on the banner above to the US site and if you're doing your shopping in the UK, they have a designated UK site now, which you can click through to from the US site. Thanks for popping in to visit today. I hope you've enjoyed seeing this spotlight ink and embossing creation. I really have enjoyed doing the Holiday Card Workshop that I learnt this technique from. I'm hoping to have some time in the next day or so to catch up my homework and then do another couple of these spotlight technique cards, as I really did enjoy creating this one. I'll be back soon with another crafty adventure. Hugs and happy creating, Wends xoxo
