Whimsy Stamps ~ 4th of July

Hey crafty friends, I'm popping in very quickly tonight, to share a couple of cards I made with America's 4th of July celebration in mind. I know this is not what would usually be shared as 4th of July makes, as they're usually more celebratory, however I was thinking of the wars still being waged around the world and my heart remains heavy for the people of Ukraine. My hubby works with two lads who are living in Kyiv and surrounded by the war. So we are so very mindful of what they're going through. I have a wonderful set from Whimsy which honours their soldiers, that I thought was fitting to remember Freedom can come at great cost. I am reminded of the words of Martin Luther King Jr, in sharing a message of hope, peace and unity, her repeated the phrase "let freedom ring", letting the impact and significance ring true. This echoes in my ears when I think of the 4th of July, I can hear Martina McBride singing 'Independence Day' and although this song speaks of a more personal struggle, those words still ring true.

I kept the design of these cards very simple. The first with red, white and blue stars in the background and the fabulous military silhouette from the die set. I finished with a simple greeting to honour those who have fought and are still fighting for freedom.

This second card, I kept the theme very CAS again, using a red, white and blue heart this time in the background and cut the USA letters into the dogtag and sprinkled glitter into the letters in matching shades to highlight them. I used some silver ink to colour a strand of string and tied that to the dogtag, then finished again with a very simple sentiment.

Thanks for popping in to visit today. I will be back soon with another crafty adventure. If you're in the US, I hope you've had a wonderful Independence Day. Hugs, Wends xoxo
