Whimsy Stamps ~ Monkey Business

Hey friends, I'm back today with two more New Release creations using the adorable Banana Bunch Clear Stamps. This set is quintessential Dustin Pike and full of sass and fun. I've created two cute cards with the set and did some stencilling to create the backgrounds for both of them. I coloured the images with Copic Markers.

I used the fabulous new Inverted Scallops Rectangle Die Set for the frames on both of these cards. I used three layers of that die, recessing the white middle layer and popping up the two yellow layers for a bit of dimension and interest on the card. I used Shabby Shutters Distress Oxide Ink to create a fun background for this first monkey. I masked him off and then stencilled around him. I added the sentiment from the same set in brown ink to tone with the monkey. A simple card, but lots of fun I think. I paired it with a brown envelope from my stash to finish.

The second card, I wanted to have the monkey tied in the tree like a hammock we would use, so created a couple of trunks either side of the card using a fabulous tree die from Whimsy. I cut it in half and put the two halves on opposite sides of the page. I did need to build up the right side a bit, so used offcuts to get it the full length and added the little branch from one of the offcuts to suspend the hammock from on that side. I used a bit of thin string to add the details, which was my son's idea and I thought it was a good one, so ran with it! I masked this monkey off too, to create the clouds around him, the mask slipped at one stage, and I ended up with a little blue on his head, but I don't think it was a total disaster, so just coloured over it. I stamped that fun greeting (which we are quite familiar with in my house, so was fun to use) in brown ink and then completed the card by adding the frame layer over the tree scene. I did build up the frame where there were gaps in the scene, so it sat the same height all the way around. I just used offcuts to do this.

I know I say it pretty much every time we have a new release, but I'm absolutely loving this latest release from Whimsy. I have a couple more cards to share with you yet and they have all the groovy retro vibes, so I can't wait to show you those! I will be back very soon with them.

Thanks for popping in today to check out my monkey business, hehe. This really is a fun set and I know it'll get plenty of use from me, I think this'll be one the nephews will enjoy! Dustin Pike's images are always such fun! I'll be back again very soon with another crafty adventure until then, I wish you a lovely weekend and happy creative days. Hugs, Wends xoxo

OMG - fantastic cards Wendy... love that sentiment on the second card! And so clever to make the hammock.
What amazing and humorous cards Wends - love your wee scenes and how you framed them using those fabulous dies!!
That saying on the second card is one I have had to use to myself a few times over the past year or so, as I have adjusted to living with family!!
Blessings
