Simon Says Stamp ~ So Happy For You Both

Hey crafty friends, I'm popping in today with a card I made for my mum to give to a friend whose daughter was getting married to her Swedish beau. My mum's daddy was Swedish, so she wanted to me to include a Swedish theme to the card. So I put on my thinking cap and without much effort recalled the beautiful Swedish inspired folkart stamp set that my hubby bought for my birthday last year. I really loved this set and wanted to have it exactly for its Swedish vibe! So it was perfect to use for this card commission from my mama.

I used a gorgeous 3D embossing folder from Sizzix called Confetti Hearts to create the fun texture for the background of the card. I did this directly on the top folding card base, which was possible, because the design is random and 'anyway up', so the direction of the design didn't proclude using it this way. I bought the stencils after Greg gave me the stamp set, because I loved the design so much, so this card was actually made using the layered stencils from this set. I also used the lovely heart die from Simon Says Stamp that is shaped to match this heart design. I finished the design with the lovely 'So Happy For You Both' diecut sentiment from Simon Says Stamp. I layered it up several times for dimension and finished with a matt silver top layer.

To get the die lined up right over the heart, I sat it over the image, then lined the stencil back up again. I did my stencilling in the corner of my Tim Holtz Stamping Platform, which I find really useful for this type of make. I shifted the die under the stencil until it lined up where I wanted then I taped it in place before diecutting it. I laid the stencil back overtop to show this process in the image above.

I used a mix of dye based inks for this creation. Tumbled Glass for the lightest blue, then Salty Ocean which I had a mini cube of, then I moved to Faded Jeans and reached for a darker blue called Dress Blues from a Catherine Pooler set. I have a set of Whimsy Stamps brushes which I use exclusively for my Oxide Inks, but I have an older set of blending brushes that I keep for my dye based inks. You may spot that I use a bit of Tonic Grip Mat in my Tim Holtz Stamping Platform. I love the way this grips the paper I'm stamping and gives a bit of extra dimension when stamping, it ensures a really good impression too. So it's become a permanent fixture in this stamping platform. I like using the MISTI that my mum bought me a while back, but I still find myself coming back to this stamping platform for certain tasks or when my paper is larger. I won't be getting rid of it! Thanks for popping in to visit today friends and I hope you enjoyed this post. I shared it today, so I could join the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge, which is a Romance/Weddings/Anniversaries Challenge. I was a perfect fit! I'll be back very soon with another crafty adventure until then, hugs and happy crafting, Wends xoxo

I do use affiliate links where possible, which gives me a tiny commission but costs you no extra whatsoever, though more importantly it helps the companies I design for to improve their marketing practice and track my contributions. I am deeply grateful if you use them for these reasons. I only design for companies whose products I absolutely love and buy for myself. My opinions are always my own.)
